It's a little known fact that Groupon Coupons is the first experience millions of users have each year with the Groupon brand. As such, the Coupons team is in a unique position of converting those users to lifetime Groupon users and furthering our mission of building the local marketplace. The Coupons engineering team is responsible for ensuring that experience is seamless and highly responsive, working closely with our business team colocated in our Chicago office, making their ideas a reality.

As a front-end software engineer on the Coupons team, you will have the rare opportunity to deliver web based experiences to users at a scale not available at most companies. You will be collaborating closely with the team in an agile environment to improve all aspects of our software development lifecycle and maximize the value of our work.

Our development ecosystem:

• Languages: React, Javascript, Java, Ruby

• Frameworks: Vue.js, Node/Express, DropWizard, Rails

• Databases: MySQL, PostgreSQL

• Logging: Splunk

• APIs: REST, JSON

• Source Control: GitHub

• Project Management: JIRA

You’ll spend time on the following:

• Building new applications and enhancing existing applications in the Coupon domain

• Collaborating with other teams in the creation of those applications

• Integrating Coupons into the larger Groupon ecosystem

• Working with platform teams to improve the developer experience for all Groupon engineers

• Contributing to the improvement of the team development processes

• Mentor junior staff

• Driving the discussion and decisions of technical topics related to the team

We’re excited about you if you have:

• BS, MS or PhD in Computer Sciences or related fields with 5+ years in software development

• Experience building performant web applications, including tooling needed to keep them performant over time

• A solid understanding of microservice architectures and working with RESTful APIs

• Good communication and collaboration skills
