Primary Function

The Sr. Manager of Identity and Access Management is responsible for providing business solutions for the design, development and support of identity and access management for Grainger's world-wide information systems.  This is includes the design, standup and support of all  directories including the SAP ERP identity environment.  Also included is the supporting technologies and workflow of solutions like Single-Sign-On, cloud solutions, certificate management and other identity stores and workflows.  This position is also responsible for ensuring identity solutions are in compliance with Sarbanes Oxley requirements and any other control or governance frameworks.

Principal Duties & Responsibilities

  • Oversees Managers and supervisors and their associated team members in design, implementation, maintenance, support and technical project work to ensure objectives are met
  • Influence and collaborate with other senior leaders and teams as necessary to design solutions, resolve operational problems and minimize cycle time for problem resolution
  • Accountable for budget and services costs
  • Directs continuous improvement processes and root cause analysis to eliminate waste and  provide improvements to service level objectives
  • Ensure the team is setting the proper Information Security Standards, performing appropriate tool selection, and producing documentation as required
  • Mentoring leaders to ensure proper knowledge transfer, communications and instruction within the team and with other teams is occurring
  • Ensure leaders are managing the standardization and implementation of administrative processes to allow for transition of repeatable work to level-one support
  • Coach team leaders in proper management of  the relationship of with external level-one support providers
  • Ensure all controls and procedures are being executed properly by teams to facilitate compliance objectives
  • Partner with the Security Risk and Compliance team to establish policies and report on key risk indicators
  • Work with business and IT leadership to understand areas of opportunity to help with strategic objectives yet ensure sound security practices
  • Own and manage an operational budget that supports and aligns with corporate initiatives and optimizes spend to risk
  • Oversee the selection of identity vendors, devices,  tools and resources; and provide advisement to CISO as to direction
  • Using performance excellence tools, develop, monitor and assess staff performance to provide timely feedback and promote team effectiveness
  • Develop and deliver comprehensive reviews of performance per corporate HR guidelines
  • Manage and hire Managers and Supervisors, employees, interns and/or consultants
  • Communicate summary of unresolved or suspected security exposures, misuse or noncompliance situations to leadership and recommends course of action
  • Ensure that team Managers and Supervisors are actively developing and engaging others in Continuous Improvement concepts
  • Provide subject matter expertise, as requested for: Architecture, Planning and Roadmap sessions
  • Align Corporate and EPS goals to S.M.A.R.T. Enterprise Security objectives
  • Develop strategies that align with the medium and long term corporate strategy and rapidly shifting trends
  • Provides support for long range forecasting process
  • Cultivate a team environment that balances risk and creativity in quickly responding to business opportunities

Preferred Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems or related degree, or equivalent job experience.  Masters in Information Systems is preferred
  • 7 to 10 years management experience in the following areas:
  • Demonstrated ability to  grow and develop team members, with teams  ranging in size up to 15 individuals
  • Managing budgets ranging in size up to $3M
  • Workload prioritization experience
  • Overseeing large projects or programs
  • Previous experience mentoring people leaders and team members in their development
  • Foundational understanding of SAP (i.e. ECC, CRM, SRM, BI, etc.)
  • Basic understanding of Role based Access for SAP Security
  • 7+ years of experience or training in Security fundamentals
  • Highly self-motivated
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a global complex environment
  • Solid understanding of standard business processes including Change Management, Problem Management, Work Prioritization, Quality Assurance, and Continuous Improvement best practices etc.
  • Strong client relationship management skills
  • Ability to communicate to Executive Leadership
  • Very strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal and conflict management skills
  • Demonstrated ability to motivate, mentor, coach and lead technical and non-technical teams; must be able to work directly with individuals at all levels of the Company
  • Strong continuous improvement problem-solving and mentoring skills
