Senior Network Engineer – Chicago

We are seeking a Senior Network Engineer to join our rapidly growing global workforce. In this role you will be responsible for the development and maintenance of a state of the art, highly available, trading network. Your daily activities will consist of tuning the network for optimal latency and availability while supporting the needs of the business.

Responsibilities:

• Participate as a member of the Global Infrastructure team tasked with the defining and implementing cutting edge technology solutions across the firm
• Develop standards for firmwide infrastructure solutions for a global brokerage firm
• Work with vendor support teams to remotely install and configure L2/L3 switches, routers, and firewalls
• Manage dedicated connectivity between public and private clouds
• Evaluate and recommend tools to increase firm’s productivity
• Lead global network architecture discussions
• Measure and optimize network performance for customer facing applications
• Evaluate and recommend changes to processes to increase team productivity
• Work with business partners to meet needs for systems availability, disaster recovery, and security
• Setup fully audited change control for network configuration changes
• Monitor network performance to prevent bottlenecks and application slowdowns
• Develop and deploy solutions to maintain systems availability
• Provide technical support and guidance to fellow team members
• Participate in patch management and vulnerability mitigation
• Tune network for optimal performance

Requirements:

• 5+ years of experience working as a Network Engineer
• Expert level experience tuning dynamic routing protocols (BGP, OSPF, EIGRP)
• Familiarity with supporting VPN infrastructure over various mediums (MPLS, P2P, etc)
• CCNP certification or relevant level of experience
• Proficiency in Cisco NX-OS, IOS, ASA, and FirePower platforms
• Experience with first hop redundancy technologies (HSRP, VRRP, GLBP)
• In-depth understanding of the TCP/IP network stack and the ability to troubleshoot network related issues using relevant tools (wireshark, tcpdump, etc)
• Experience managing FCoE, iSCSI or Fibre networks
• Working knowledge of public and private cloud networking concepts
• Proven experience supporting a latency sensitive global network
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Passion for collaboration and proven success in a fast-paced work environment
• Experience with VMware NSX or other SDN platforms a plus
