Motorola Solutions is there for our customers when everything is on the line. In extreme moments — when a hurricane lands or when a fire breaks out. And in everyday moments — when a package arrives just in time for the holiday or when a child doesn’t miss the school bus home.
We unify voice, data, video and analytics in one integrated ecosystem to enable individuals, businesses and communities to work together in more powerful ways. To help people make better decisions, act confidently and be their best in the moments that matter. Bring your passion, potential and talents to Motorola Solutions and connect with a career that matters.
Department OverviewThis is an opportunity for you to use user cybersecurity skills to protect the people that protect us. Our customers are first responders. Fire, police, and paramedics; 911 call takers and 911 dispatchers. And when we or our loved ones place that 911 call, we become the customer of our customers. We want that call to be answered, and we want the communications between the dispatcher and the first responder to be available. But what if that 911 call center, or the communications link to the responders in the field, were under attack? What if you or your loved ones' call to 911 went unanswered, or they were unable to dispatch paramedics to your location, because they had been taken down by ransomware? This is not just theoretical; it is happening. First responders and 911 call centers are under attack around the globe, and this is a chance to fight back.
Job Description
The security architecture team within Motorola Solutions is responsible for driving the cybersecurity technology strategy and curating a library of cyber technical specifications, designed to provide turn-key patterns for securely implementing NIST 800-53 controls. Examples include code signing, cryptography, containers, security operations, API security, identity management (OAuth 2.0 and OpenID Connect), data protection, web security, etc. The job is highly collaborative and will involve putting together working groups around each technology area composed of developers and architects within the different business units to drive the development and ultimate publication of specifications.
The ideal candidate will bring strong professional experiences in one or more of the following areas:
Software - because many of the technical specifications are being written for the software development community, it is important that the author of the specifications be well versed in software practices and be able to provide reference code within the specifications. Experience and proficiency in at least one modern programming language (Java, Node.js, Go, Python, etc) is desired.
Cloud - experience building in Azure or AWS, including a solid understanding of infrastructure as code, configuration as code, distributed / immutable / ephemeral design patterns, and observability. This will enable us to publish technical specifications for secure cloud implementations.
Cybersecurity - experience in either cyber defense or cyber offense is critical in order to develop specifications designed to enable secure implementations in software and cloud.
We do NOT expect for you to come in knowing all of the above, rather we expect you to come in possessing an insatiable appetite for learning new things and a passion for making the world a safer place. We WILL make investments in you and in your career, and ensure that you have the time and space to learn and grow. This will include formal training, security certifications, on the job learning, and sending you to cybersecurity conferences where you will network and learn from your peers.
If you are passionate about cybersecurity and passionate about making a difference that can save lives, please reach out to us!
