Senior Site Reliability Engineer
Rocket Travel, Inc., a subsidiary of Booking Holdings, is looking for a Senior Site Reliability Engineer to join our team in our West Loop, Chicago office. You will be a member of the team building and continuously improving tools for consumption by the broader Engineering, Product, and Design teams.

You will be helping our team pursue challenges including:
- Expanding and maintaining shared tooling for CI/CD pipelines, application monitoring, and analytics
- Triaging structural security issues and designing automation to enforce compliance
- Implementing cross-product pipeline code to solve common CI/CD issues
- Automating infrastructure components of our Whitelabel launch process
- Evaluating container orchestration products for future deployments
The stack you’ll help manage:
- Architecture that is 100% AWS-hosted, primarily in EC2 and RDS at the moment
- Infrastructure implemented in Terraform and Ansible where appropriate
- GitHub for code management and Jenkins for CI/CD
- Support for our developers who write in many languages (e.g., Java, Groovy, JavaScript) and use multiple frameworks (e.g., Spring Boot, Grails, React)
- Third party services and products for needs outside core competencies: DataDog, Cloudflare, and a variety of AWS-hosted services
An ideal candidate will have:
- At least 2 years production experience managing public cloud infrastructure
- Deep knowledge of Linux systems administration and troubleshooting
- Demonstrated ability to clearly communicate technical concepts to non-engineers
- Familiarity with security best practices within application and AWS contexts
- Pragmatic approaches to evaluating technology that balances quality and effort
- Expertise in administering and tuning application stacks
- Experience building CI/CD pipelines (i.e., proficiency with Jenkins is a plus)
- Customer-oriented mindset to serving development teams
- Interest in tackling large technical projects & problems, learning deeply about new technologies, and sharing skills & knowledge with other engineers
