Senior Software Engineer, Developer Experience
About the role
The Developer Experience team is responsible for the tools and processes that enable Chime engineers to build, test, and deploy code quickly and reliably. As a Software Engineer on this team, you will be involved in designing our CI/CD practices, automating the creation and management of dev/test environments in the cloud, writing software to streamline developer workflows, and building automation using principles like chatops and gitops.
For Colorado based roles: In accordance with applicable law, this role has an annual starting salary of $164,500 plus bonus, a competitive equity package, and benefits (see below). The actual pay may be higher depending on your location, skills, qualifications, and experience.
In this role, you can expect to
- Assess and improve Chime developer environments, including local development and cloud-based dev/test environments.Â
- Create best practices, templates, and automation for build, test, integration, and deployment pipelines.
- Design and develop tools for easily creating and managing dev/test infrastructure and services in AWS.
- Provide expertise and guidance on CI/CD, Github, and other development tools.
- Partner with other engineering teams to understand their development workflows, and help evolve and standardize them according to Chime's best practices.
- Build mock services and production-like data sources for use in development and testing.
- Design frameworks for routing and simulating traffic between cloud services and developer environments.
- Manage Github integrations, feature flag systems, code coverage tools, and other development tools.
- Partner with Security teams to enable secure coding standards and security tooling throughout the development workflow.
- Develop strong relationships with engineers, managers, and other colleagues based on trust, empathy, and technical expertise.
To thrive in this role, you have
- A deep understanding of modern development practices and tools.
- Strong development experience in Ruby, Go, or another programming language.
- Experience with at least one common CI/CD platform.
- Experience in creating and working with containers, as well as using container orchestration tools.
- Provide Architectural and Design direction.
- Experience building developer-facing tools with an emphasis on simplicity, supportability, and ease-of-use.
- Had previous success in enabling effective partnerships and strong communication with other engineers and teams.
- Familiarity with common monitoring, logging, and observability platforms.
- A positive attitude, a collaborative mindset, and a focus on the customer.
