Job Description
The Senior WordPress Developer/Junior Developer role at BuildThis works within the WordPress & Application Development departments. The role requires tenacity, collaboration, initiative, and an in-depth understanding of development. As an agency, we work with a multitude of clients spanning many industries; an ability to adapt & an interest in constantly learning & evolving is paramount to this role.
Responsibilities
Complete required work for client projects from onboarding to completion on time & within estimated hours.
This includes, but is not limited to: uncovering & evaluating functional needs/requests, usability & audience understanding & suggestions, development of WordPress websites in accordance with approved design layouts, writing secure & clean code for web applications, document code, concepts, business logic & logistics, implementation of SEO best practices, and performing necessary measures to ensure mobile responsiveness & quality assurance across common browsers & devices.
Work collaboratively & communicate effectively with Project Managers, other designers/developers within Project Teams, and with clients.
Proactively troubleshoot issues & construct solutions related to project development requirements.
Assist with debugging/development of bug fixes for day-to-day maintenance of BuildThis-supported applications.
Manage server optimization for BuildThis’ maintenance clients.
Development of new features under the guidance of more senior team members.
Proactively identify areas of self-improvement & professional development. Openly discuss goals with supervisor on a quarterly basis.

In-depth understanding of PHP, MySQL/database management, jQuery, Javascript, API connections, WordPress technologies (themes & plugins), UI/UX knowledge & theory, information architecture, CSS3, HTML5, and SEO best practices for web development.
Basic understanding of Laravel, or equivalent framework, Adobe Creative Suite
Strong time management skills with the ability to manage multiple time-sensitive assignments simultaneously.
Strong written & verbal communication skills to discuss projects with project teams internally & directly with clients.
Interest in software & web development trends/languages/frameworks and present any ideas or recommendations to BuildThis’ leadership team for possible new opportunities.
