Job Description
TITLE: Service Reliability Engineer
DUTIES: DFS Corporate Services LLC seeks Service Reliability Engineer in Riverwoods, IL to maintain Operational Stability and Performance of one or more Critical Business Services used by Discover Customers and Employees. Work with other members of their assigned Value Stream/Product to ensure that the in-scope applications/platforms are meeting performance and stability requirements. Manage Major Incidents to Mitigation/Resolution. Perform Post-Incident Reviews of all Major Incidents and determining Action Items required to avoid similar issues/minimize downtime for future Incidents. Work with Application Development to ensure that assigned applications/platforms have appropriate monitoring and metrics in place to appropriately measure performance and stability. Act as the Operations representative in Value Stream/Product planning and prioritization sessions to ensure that Operational needs of assigned applications/platforms are addressed as needed. Hold quarterly Operational Performance Reviews with Value Stream management. Work with other members of their assigned Value Stream/Product to ensure that the Production releases for their in-scope applications/platforms are properly planned and coordinated. Hold Change/Release implementation reviews to ensure thorough and appropriate implementation plans. Provide review and sign-off/approval of change tickets for the assigned Value Stream. Represent the Value Stream in Change Advisory Board Meetings. Participate in Program Increment Planning Sessions as a liaison for Operations and Infrastructure support. Provide information regarding upcoming critical changes to the Value Stream/Product. Ensure that applications/platforms in the Value Stream are Operationally ready for Production. Annual Review of all SOPs/Knowledge Articles. Monitor review for any new Feature launch or other significant change that may impact monitoring. SOP/Knowledge Article review for any new Feature launch or other significant change that may impact support documentation. Training of Command Center and Application 1st level Support on new SOPs, Knowledge Articles, and any other support related needs. Perform Monthly Capacity Analysis of applications/platforms within the Value Stream/Product. Create and Maintain Operationally focused ELK Dashboards for the Value Stream/Product. Responsible for defining the Service Level Objectives, Service Level Indicators & Service Level Agreements for the Product/Value Stream with Product Owner/Product Manager. Promote a risk-aware culture to ensure efficient and effective risk and compliance management practices by adhering to required standards and processes.
REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Engineering or related field of study and two (2) years of experience in the job offered or related occupation: creating and managing continuous build, integration, test, and deployment systems; monitoring, alerting, analyzing and troubleshooting large scale distributed systems; designing and architecting operational solutions for managing applications and infrastructure to increase the automation, repeatability, and consistency of operational tasks; enhancing and maintaining complex software components and distributed systems; utilizing technologies, including App-Dynamics, Splunk, Jenkins, Autosys, CA-UIM, Influx/Grafana, Tableau, and Chef.
