Writing code to solve business problems:

• Using Ruby on Rails, React/React Native, and vanilla Javascript and CSS.
• Familiarity with Tailwind or Material UI is a plus.
• Hosting on Heroku, using a Postgres database
• Communicating the trade-offs of various technical approaches and solutions
• Contributing to software development, design and implementationShipping reliable, scalable, efficient code

Mentoring other software engineers and pair programming; collaborating with others:

• Providing insight to junior engineers to guide their programming
• Influencing the road map and product development of Home Chef tools
• Communicating and writing code clearly while pair programming
• Completing pull request reviews and providing feedback to the team
• Participating in sprints, IPMs, Retros, and other meetings to help with product roadmap planning

Interviewing potential software engineers:

• Asking thoughtful questions to candidates
• Assessing a candidate's technical ability as well as their contribution to our team’s culture
• Pair programming with candidates
• Providing specific, timely feedback to the Home Chef team about candidate’s interview performance

Qualifications:

• At least one year of experience shipping production code
• While it's a plus to have shipped at least one major feature in both Ruby on Rails and React, having experience shipping production code in one or the other is strongly preferred
• Experience with Heroku a plus
• Experience with React Native a plus
• Must hold a general high school degree or equivalent, or up to one year of post-high school training such as college, vocational school, developer bootcamps, etc.
• Must be comfortable working with version control such as GitHub
• Must be well-versed in at least one professional code editor (Atom, Sublime, VS Code, Vim, etc.)
• Must be comfortable working with tools like Slack and GSuite
• Some teams build software that supports our 24/7 plant operation. Depending on the team, you may be expected to respond to on-call events when they occur
• Some SQL knowledge is a plus, but not required
