• Groupon is looking for a software engineer to join our Global Tools and Support team.  We are looking for a problem solver; someone who enjoys debugging code, resolving issues, and creating solutions for common problems.  Thisteam needs someone who understands the differences being proactive and reactive, sometimes at the same time!

   

  Responsibilities

  • Provide top-to-bottom support of the entire Groupon application environment
  • Create and maintain technical documentation
  • Automate common second tier support tasks
  • Build software tools to assist with or replace automation

   

  Requirements

  • Experience supporting a large scale web application environment
  • Previous support work with transactional environments
  • Ability to program in at least two common scripting language such as Ruby or Python
  • Willing to work in a 24x7 rotational support environment
  • Positive communication skills and ability to provide professional and constructive feedback to others

   

  Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree or higher, or equivalent work experience
  • Solid understanding of Computer Science and web protocols
  • Experience with relational databases - MySQL in particular
  • Experience developing web applications (in any language - Ruby/Rails experience a plus)
  • Experience developing in *NIX environments
