Job Description

The Engineering Manager role is in the Selling Control & Pricing Organization. We are a fast-growing team with the vision to change how Nordstrom sells to its customers. We are building a new machine learning and rules-based engine that intends to automate selling and pricing outcomes. We have both front-end and back-end services natively deployed on the cloud (AWS). Price promotions and clearances are core business functions that we already support today.
You will get a rare opportunity to have a meaningful impact on the business and the technical strategy, with the possibility of fundamentally changing Nordstrom's core business.
A day in the life…
Assist in enhancing org vision and strategies to support company goals and receive guidance from more senior leaders
Create training opportunities for team to learn the latest technologies and methodologies
Ensure team has the tools, resources, and information they need to be successful
Hire capable and motivated talent/teams that can deliver swiftly and predictably, adjusting in an agile fashion to deliver solutions aligned with business needs
Contribute to architecture, coding, test plans, project plans, deployment planning and operations to drive excellence and steer team towards its goals
Employ continuous improvement methodologies across own team (e.g. quantifies impacts customer first, waste elimination, increased productivity, iterates quickly, shorten feedback loop, experience creating relevant KPIs)
You own this if you have…
5+ years of relevant work experience
A BA/BS in Computer Science or closely related degree or equivalent practical experience
2+ years leading teams
Proven track record of shipping well designed systems, built for scale and tested for performance
Experience with Cloud technologies, such as AWS is a plus.
Good understanding of dev-ops best practices, CI/CD, alerting, monitoring, A/B testing, production support.
Experience with agile software development, such as SCRUM or Kanban.

Hourly and salary pay ranges specific to Colorado are listed below, which is provided in compliance with Colorado law. Nordstrom continues to remain competitive with pay and benefits in all markets.

Minimum - $12.55/hr
Maximum - $46.10/hr
Salary (Non-Exempt and Exempt)
Minimum - $30,200/annual
Maximum - $289,200/annual
