Job Description
We currently have an opening in the ICS Drivetrain Team for Sr Engineer-Test/Validation located at the Caterpillar Peoria Proving Ground. The incumbent will develop and validate new transmissions, torque converters, and control systems for powershift transmission applications of the Construction Industries Product Line.
Responsibilities typically include: Working with design, systems integration, facility operations, and software engineers to develop and optimize transmission hardware and controls for powershift transmissions. The incumbent will become proficient in tools used to calibrate transmission control systems and acquire data on machine. Become proficient in operation of test machines.
Projects may include: Planning and execution of machine tests to calibrate and optimize transmission control systems at the Peoria Proving Ground and other field environments. The incumbent will be responsible for component inspections, data analysis, and documentation of results and recommendations.
Basic Qualifications:

  • BS in Mechanical, Agricultural, or Electrical Engineering
  • Minimum of 2 years engineering experience
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills along with good oral and written communication skills
  • Must be a good team player and have the desire to work in field/shop/lab environments
  • Work experience in field/shop/lab environments
  • Must be willing to travel up to 10% of the time


Top Candidates will also have :

  • MS in Mechanical, Agricultural, or Electrical Engineering
  • Experience in the design or development of powershift transmissions
  • Data acquisition experience
  • Lab or machine simulation experience
  • DATK and/or ATI Vision software experience
  • Understanding of controls system theory
  • Experience with FMEA / DVP&R / Proactive Reliability processes

  • This position will close on Sunday, December 5th at 11:59PM.
  • Location of this position is in Caterpillar Peoria Proving Grounds Washington, IL
  • Relocation is not available for this position
  • Position may require approximately 10% travel domestically
