Principal Hardware Engineer
Your role in helping us shape the future:
You will play an integral role in developing new aircraft hardware Line Replaceable Units (LRUs) and ensuring these units meeting internal, industry, aircraft manufacture, and airworthiness requirements. You should have the desire to work with cross functional teams and vendors to ensure Intelsat is incorporating the latest technology and building the best product possible.
Your projects will range from defining aircraft equipment and troubleshooting / improving existing parts to working with aircraft manufacturers to validate and test parts to rigorous environmental and electromagnetic effect requirements.
Are you up to the challenge?
• Demonstrate your technical expertise by defining hardware requirements required to enable in-flight connectivity (IFC) system installations on aircraft production lines, based on joint Intelsat engineering and OEM specific (size/weight/power, environmental specifications, etc.) requirements.
• Establish your ability to work in a team by collaborating with vendors to verify designs meet all applicable requirements, provide feedback on prototype development, and confirm performance during product validation testing.
• Showcase your attention to detail by verifying all vendor and/or FAA mandated airworthiness requirements (per DO-160G, Boeing D6-xx, Airbus ABD-xx, etc.) are met.
• Generate qualification test plans and oversee their execution.
• Use your effective communication skills to compile information and document compliance with requirements, in writing or via presentations, as mandated by OEM partners.
• Interface closely with network and test teams to ensure that all system level performance and physical interface requirements are met
Can you drive these processes?
Review requirement documents; provide engineering oversight (in design, prototyping and testing phases) for development efforts; Lead vendor and linefit (OEM system installation) teleconferences.
You should definitely have:
• Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or other equivalent program.
• 8+ years of related engineering experience in one or more; SATCOM, Systems Engineering, hardware development, avionics system testing, aircraft systems integration, or other relative experience.
It would be nice if you had:
• Knowledge of avionics, Satcom, or aircraft IFE/connectivity systems
• Previous experience related to RF or wireless connectivity technologies
• Previous experience qualifying aircraft hardware
• Familiarity with requirements development and PLM systems such as JAMA, JIRA, or AGILE
• Experience with satellite terminal solutions (antennas, Modems, baseband equipment, etc.)
• Experience in Linux, networking, SNMP, and supporting SW tools
