Ocient is searching for a highly experienced DevOps Engineer with strong problem-solving skills and automation experience to help maintain and expand Ocient's "as a service" offering of its cutting-edge data warehouse. This is a unique opportunity to help define the company’s strategy and implementation of Infrastructure as Code and automation.   

Responsibilities:  

• Provide recognized domain expertise in Infrastructure as Code and automation.
• Define a comprehensive architecture with a holistic approach to automation: starting from bare metal provisioning, OS installation, through application deployment, maintenance, and testing.
• Implement automation and configuration management with a strong focus on extensibility, maintainability, and security. Ensure that other team members may contribute to the automation solution as needed.
• Participate in other initiatives and projects as a member of a small, fast-moving, and collaborative team that maintains a broad set of responsibilities.
• Provide input on the design and operations of our hosted offerings of the Ocient DB and related services, such as message queues and storage systems, ensuring all services are highly-available, highly performant, and efficient.

Qualifications:  

• 10+ years of experience in system engineering within production environments, preferably both cloud and on-prem. 
• 5+ years of experience in infrastructure automation, including extensive knowledge of configuration management and deployment tools like Ansible, Puppet, Chef, and Terraform.  
• Demonstrated ability to contribute across multiple areas of infrastructure (systems, storage, networking). 
• Strong knowledge of system virtualization and containerization technologies. 
• Scripting experience with Bash, Python, or other languages.
• Continuous Integration / Continuous Deployment experience with Jenkins, Gitlab CI or others.
• Experience with source control tools like Git. Previous software development experience or exposure is a major plus. 
• Knowledge and experience with system and software monitoring and alerting tools, such as the ELK stack, Graylog, InfluxDB, Prometheus, Zabbix, Grafana, Dynatrace, or others. 
• Prior experience with data archiving, backup and disaster recovery is preferred. 
• Ability to work flexible hours and serve in an on-call rotation.
