ThinkMarkets is a global online brokerage firm, specializing in Foreign Exchange and Commodities trading. Our mission is to disrupt the brokerage industry with our technology platform, superior data insights and marketing practices. We are seeking a Systems Engineer to join our rapidly growing global workforce based in Chicago!

This person will help build our fast-growing data center and cloud server infrastructure. You will be responsible for planning, successful execution and ongoing support of complex server and application deployment projects. You will be working with other team members to provide world class infrastructure for our growing global business.

Responsibilities:

• Design and implement the server architecture of the firm, including back-end services such as Apache, NGINX, MySQL
• Setup automated system backups according to company and industry standards
• Work with business partners to meet their needs for systems availability, Disaster Recovery, Business Continuity and Security
• Provide technical support and guidance to users and other team members
• Maintain system security by actively identifying faults and vulnerable areas within the system’s architecture
• Proactively develop system protections, particularly when deploying system-wide changes that can introduce new vulnerabilities
• Work with closely with other teams in other IT disciplines to build a scalable and stable architecture

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s Degree or Master’s in Computer Science, Engineering, Software Engineering or a relevant field
• 5+ years of experience in managing medium to large scale server footprint
• Knowledge of compliance and security related procedures and data protections
• Consistent upward and downstream communication
• Proficiency in Windows and Linux operating system administration
• Experience with performance and memory tuning
• Familiarity with cloud products and current trends and ability to provision and configure resources on the Cloud
• Knowledge of VMware and other virtualization products
• Experience with Public and Private clouds
• Familiarity with monitoring software such as Zabbix, Nagios and Monit
• Knowledge of Automation platforms such as Terraform and Ansible
