Taxonomy Information Architect (remote), Zoro

Primary Function:
The Taxonomy Information Architect is responsible for connecting classification and attribution strategies to a best in class experience for our customers. They help power an intuitive navigation experience for our customers, making it easy for customers to find the product they're looking for among our 7mil+ product assortment. This role is considered a key thought leader within Product Information organization. They will be responsible for building and maintaining the framework behind Zoro's Taxonomy and Attribute models.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Help to build and execute a global taxonomy vision for Zoro. This includes defining and improving processes for:
- Product classification & category creation @ scale
- Classification accuracy & reclassification models
- Node renaming and mapping
- Cross selling
- Key attribute identification, inheritance & value standardization
- Work with Senior Manager to develop automation and accuracy models to best represent and organize our product assortment for our customers
- Help develop and execute taxonomy-related product roadmaps that support the overall company strategy and vision
- Leverage website metrics and customer behavior to drive classification and attribute decisions
- Define and measure taxonomy, classification and attribution KPIs to measure product findability
- Influence and collaborate with key cross functional partners to create the best possible shopping experience for our customers
- Generate, document and publish best practices around taxonomy
- Be a champion of engagement, diversity and inclusion efforts across the team and broader organization
Qualifications:
- BS/MS in Library Science, Information Science, or related field preferred
- 3-5 years of Taxonomy experience and background working with multiple taxonomy structures
- 2-3 years of experience working in ecommerce, preferably in an endless aisle or marketplace environment
- Demonstrated advanced knowledge around the following taxonomy and data modeling concepts
- Product classification and attribute standards
- Product organization and cataloging principles
- Managing strategies for multiple taxonomies, Master vs. Customer facing
- Experience in implementing change management surrounding classification processes
- Experience planning and conducting user research, and analyzing results to help improve customer experience
- Exceptional technical and analytical skills, with proven ability in identifying problems, recommending solutions, and improving processes
- Demonstrated experience partnering with technology teams and data scientists to design solutions that enable automation and create efficiencies
- Proven success in execution and management of projects
- Prior experience in the MRO and/or industrial supply space is a plus
