The Large Power Systems Division (LPSD) of Caterpillar has an opening for a Tech Specialist / NPI Field Follow Engineer based in Lafayette, IN or Mossville, IL. As an NPI Field Follow Engineer, you will be responsible for LPSD field follow units running in the field, and for developing Dealer facing tools and documentation to ensure we provide world class Product Support for our new APP products.
Job Duties/Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

  • Work with LPSD engineering teams to understand requirements for field follow units running in the field
  • Work with LPSD Engineering, LPSD Program Management, Caterpillar Marketing and Caterpillar Dealer Support teams to ensure required Product Support steps are completed for successful launch of NPI programs
  • Work with the cross functional team to troubleshoot and resolve any problems and any failures that occur during operation
  • Document, prioritize, and raise awareness for field follow events and issues, and support the launch and resolution of NPI and Continuous Product Improvement (CPI) projects to resolve issues.


Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or 20 years relevant engineering experience
  • Self-starter with strong troubleshooting skills and ability to solve problems
  • Strong technical leadership and project management skills
  • Strong communication skills


Top Candidates will also have:

  • BS in Electrical Engineering
  • Experience with Advanced Power Products design, development, or service
  • Proven leadership experience in a Caterpillar product support or engineering team
  • Demonstrated flexibility to accommodate a fast paced and everchanging environment
  • Experience with the Caterpillar CPI and/or NPI processes


Additional Information:

  • Location of this position is Lafayette, IN or Mossville, IL.
  • This position may require 25% to 50% travel.
  • This position will close on November 3, 2021 at 11:59 PM.
