What Will You Do?

Xaqt is seeking a UI JavaScript Engineer who will be foundational in building out our Connected Data and Smart Cities products.

We build software that helps our customers answer their most critical questions. You build the interfaces that root the answers to these questions in powerful data analysis.

The mission of a UI JavaScript Engineer is to design and build capabilities that let users visualize and interact with their data to meet their analytical needs. To achieve that mission, you are involved in all stages of the product development and deployment lifecycle: idea generation, user interviews, planning, design, prototyping, execution, shipping, and iteration.

Day to Day Responsibilities

• Using libraries and tools such as Typescript, Angular 2, Underscore, jQuery, Bootstrap, D3, HighCharts, Backbone, Jasmine, Bower, and Gulp, you will engineer elegant, modular JavaScript components to be used in a wide variety of applications.
• Work with the team to develop clean, intuitive tools that abstract away complicated concepts and complex logic to enable users to quickly build an application from end-to-end.
• Work very closely with, and incorporate feedback from, product management, interaction designers, and back-end engineers.
• Rapidly fix bugs, solve problems, and pro-actively strive to improve the products and technologies.
• Build and improve tools for internal Xaqt teams and customers to understand and analyze large-scale data

You are

• You are a strong front-end coder. Regardless of which frameworks you use or how you learned them, we’re looking for people who can write clean, effective code. You should already have proficiency in Javascript and an understanding of how web technologies work.
• You are passionate about building user interfaces that enable users to solve their problems.
• Familiarity with data structures, storage systems, cloud infrastructure, front-end frameworks, and other technical tools.
• Skill and comfort working in a rapidly changing environment with dynamic objectives and iteration with users.

Pre-Requisites

• Stellar communication skills, both verbally and in writing
• Experience writing AWS Lambdas, and/or using Serverless to create Lambdas
• An in-depth knowledge of the JavaScript language and Object-Oriented patterns (at least 3 years experience)
• B.S. or higher in Computer Science (or equivalent work experience)
• A disciplined approach to testing and code quality assurance
• Understanding of common data structures and algorithms, profiling/optimization, and prior experience working with a JavaScript framework like React, Angular2, Backbone
• Full Stack Software Development experience in both front end and back end technologies.
• Experience with continuous integration infrastructure for software development such as Jenkins, CircleCI, etc.
• Experience in agile environments and comfort with quick iterations
• Experience with the structure and usage of REST API's
• Intellectual curiosity to pursue the unknown and to continuously learn

Good-to-have experience:

• Startup experience
• Github portfolio or link to open source work
• Visual and product design skills
• Knowledge of cross-browser quirks
• Data-informed product development: analytics, A/B testing, user testing.
