We’re seeking a VP of Engineering to partner with our CIO and our CTO and cofounder, the maestro of our codebase and our chief visionary, to scale our Engineering organization and accelerate delivery on our vision. As VP of Engineering you will lead by example, investing in our existing team and attracting and retaining top engineering talent to XSELL.

Responsibilities

• Along with XSELL’s CIO and other leaders, develop and guide our engineering strategy and team design to support XSELL’s internal goals and our distribution partners
• Apply technology and management skills as chief issue resolver to unblock our Engineering team and help them execute at a very high level
• Manage, motivate, and develop our engineering talent and support them in the delivery of XSELL’s products
• Partner with our People and Recruiting teams to source, recruit, and retain top engineering talent
• Build and maintain strong lines of communication between Engineering, Product, and Data Science teams
• Represent Engineering at the company level through cross functional collaboration between XSELL’s Technology and Commercial teams as well as our partners and clients
• Identify and regularly report on key performance metrics including development velocity, code quality, and say/do ratio
• Foster an engineering culture that is consistent with XSELL’s values of high performance, collaboration, and passion for our products and customers

Skills, Experience, and Requirements

• 10+ years of combined engineering experience, ideally starting as an individual contributor, then transitioning to senior management roles
• Ability to estimate work units, manage an agile development process, and get the most out of an engineering team
• Comfortable reviewing code to determine quality and areas for improvement, with a black belt in Excel
• Stickler about unit tests, regression test, and automated testing frameworks
• Demonstrable experience scaling engineering teams and infrastructure at a fast-growing startup
• Ability to distill product strategy and vision into shipped product
• Experience sourcing, evaluating candidates, and most of all, convincing the best talent to join our company
• Know how and when to push your team and when to tell your business team “no” because your team has reached maximum stress/effort
