About the Role:

LearnCore is looking for a talented VP of Engineering. If you choose to accept, your mission will be to manage, set up, and scale out all things technical. This includes, but is not limited to, things like defining and enforcing the right delivery method, recruiting, mentoring, and growing the team, working cross functionally to quickly address major client or market changes, and continuously improve all areas to the LearnCore products, process, and people. You will report directly to the CTO.

About the Role:

• Recruit, interview, and hire a world class development team.
• Help build progressive learning culture and establish a predictable model of envisioning, designing and developing products.
• Mentor and guide the professional and technical development of the team. Assign them to projects tailored to their skill levels, personalities, work styles, and professional goals. Hold all team members accountable for results. Embrace difficult performance conversations with the goal of improving the overall team.
• Drive best practice sharing around methodology, documentation and technology decisions for testing, deploying, and developing code.
• Guide technical vision and architecture decisions, setting priorities and communicating necessary trade-offs. Take appropriate risks for technical debt and defines a clear strategy for paying it down.
• Source 3rd party resources and or services to fulfill on development.
• Manage internal and client communications as it relates to product updates and rolls.

About You:

• 8+ years of relevant engineering work experience and 5+ hands-on technical management experience.
• Proven track record/success delivering enterprise software and applications at scale.
• Motivated, positive, and highly engaged hands on leader.
• Ability to operate and deliver results on time and on budget.
• Experience and ability to thrive in fast-paced, high-growth and dynamic environments.
• Experience leading engineers at all levels, skilled at guiding them through their career development.
• Has a technical background and is able to contribute to planning and implementation discussions, and code (pair programming, code reviews, etc) if needed.
• Familiar with the LearnCore tech stack (Scala/Java, AWS, HTML/CSS/JS, Spark, Docker)
• A sharp attention to detail and saw the bullet above was missing the period.
• A very high emotional intelligence and know when and how to address issues.
• Experience implementing organizational processes to ensure that the team delivers on their responsibilities.
• Can think strategically but act and lead tactically, sometimes in ambiguous contexts.
• Experience creating organizational alignment to get the entire team working towards the same vision while still understanding their unique role.
• Can create structure, and measurements for a team.
• Bias-to-action and data-supported results.
• Experience building teams and products that scale.
• Very strong interpersonal and communication skills.
