Department Overview
The Software Enterprise Deployment and Integration team is the team that delivers solutions to the public safety sector. We are committed to providing technology and tools which will allow customers to focus on their mission, and enable them to respond faster with smarter and safer decisions. We deploy and support products such as Computer Aided Dispatch, Records Management Systems, Jail Management Systems and Mobile Data Computing, among other offerings.
Job Description

The West Regional Software Services Director (RSSD) is responsible for the execution of all aspects of the Services business for the assigned Western region from New Mexico through Alaska and Hawaii. The team also acts as a sponsor for work happening in the Asia Pacific Region. Through the management of the Systems Integration and Lifecycle Services teams, the RSSD is accountable for the planning, monitoring, and execution of all Motorola Solutions Software projects. Success is measured in terms of customer satisfaction, revenue growth, on-time delivery and gross margin performance.

Scope of Responsibilities/Expectations:

Manage the Regional Service organization consisting of Resource Managers, Project Managers, Solutions Architects, System Technologists, Application Specialists, and Consultants, including accountability for budgeting, staffing, hiring, mentoring, Performance Management and reward planning activities. Motorola Solutions has the broadest portfolio of Software products in the industry. These include Call Handling (E911), Dispatch (CAD), Records (RMS) and Intelligence services. The RSSD oversees all day-to-day operations including, resource management, P&L, revenue forecasting, cost management/containment, customer satisfaction, and Systems Integration activities in collaboration with the Sales team throughout the customer engagement. Systems Integration responsibilities include ensuring the quality, profitability, and timeliness of design, installation, and commissioning of Customer projects, through the coordination of department resources (Project Managers, Trainers, Solution Architects, Application Specialists) and external resources (3rd-party subcontractors).

Specific Knowledge/Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree desired. An advanced degree is a plus.

  • 10+ plus years in Project management or Program Management experience.

  • PMP or PgMP certification is a plus.

  • Experience in Public Safety business process and policy implementation, systems administration or management of dispatch operations also a plus.

  • Make informed decisions and hold project teams accountable to business objectives.

  • Demonstrated ability to manage diverse project teams and rally the organization around specific business objectives. This role is a Manager of Managers position; experience is desirable.

  • Experience interfacing with and nurturing relationships at all levels of Local & State Government customers; including Users, Supervisors and Executive representatives.

  • Ability to define, communicate and measure the stated project objectives within the stipulated time period and budget. Ensures that the three constraints (quality, cost and time) are properly managed by each project team.

  • Ability to work collaboratively with regional and territorial management.

  • Drives strategic relationships between internal and external teams. Resolves issues between internal and external groups.

  • Responsible for direct communication with relevant senior stakeholders. Leads complex communications and negotiations with internal or external clients.

  • Responsible for driving process improvement for large parts of projects. Conducts project reviews throughout the life of the project.

  • May also drive process improvements across departments and business groups.

  • Represents the organization as the principal customer contact and often performs a project leadership role.

  • Creates an environment where the right values and behaviors are rewarded; is looked to for guidance on standards and achievement of business objectives. Works collaboratively with cross-business stakeholders; Sales, Service, Engineering, Product and Finance.

  • Requires Strategic Thinking and Vision and provides Presentations to Influence the broader Business Objectives.

  • Provides Change Leadership by holding the Managers accountable for considering adoption, implementation, training and continuous improvement and feedback of the changes.

  • Considers the larger picture and long term goals of the business to drive the Regional Resource Managers to high-performance goals.

  • Introduces and/or supports Innovative Ideas and Projects to remove obstacles that impact performance of the Software Enterprise Goals each year.

  • Demonstrates continuous learning of Industry Trends, Best Practices, and Standards and maintains a highly skilled and engaged workforce by aligning resource plans with business objectives.

  • Leads the prioritization of the Western Region Program and aligns the priority based on the business objectives of Cross-Functional business partners and the Software Enterprise Goals and Objectives.
