project44 is revolutionizing the freight and logistics industry by applying cutting edge technologies to automate the entire lifecycle of freight shipments including quoting, scheduling, and real-time visibility. project44’s network of APIs is capable of optimizing the shipment lifecycle, empowering companies to deliver the best customer experience possible, and provide up to date data while cutting costs along the way.

The WordPress Web Designer and Developer is responsible for developing, managing, maintaining and optimizing project44’s primary marketing website. This individual is expected to have a strong understanding and demonstrated expertise in web content, usability, architecture, front end development and design.

They will be responsible for the site's technical functionality, control all code or content updates, and work closely with key stakeholders to bring to life our brand, product information and collateral, and other website content, via the code they write.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Develop and implement front-end web code and design standards for writing clean, semantic code.
  • Wireframe and mockup revamped or new site pages, landing pages, interactive user experiences/tools. Responsible for publishing content, maintaining continuity of themes, designing layout, streamlining navigation and increasing online presence to potential customers.
  • Monitor web traffic and conversion performance. Devise and implement site conversion optimization ideas based on analytics.
  • Institute web project management practices intended to hit all deadlines and improve efficiency while maintaining the highest standards of quality web development.
  • Coordinate with stakeholders to ensure that the site provides content and functionality that meet the business needs of the organization. Collaborate with designers, back-end developers, and product stakeholders to deliver technical solutions to complex problems.
  • Proactively scope and present new ideas to improve our website experience for prospects, leads, and customers.
  • Manage the development, implementation and maintenance of the infrastructure, themes, plugins, hardware, and software utilized for the project44’s WordPress website, which is hosted on WPE.

Technical Requirements:

  • 6+ years’ experience in Wordpress.
    • You will be required to provide 5-10 examples of website you’ve been working on each year that you’ve been working with WP.
  • Experience developing mobile-friendly, responsive websites. Understanding of browser and device compatibility.
  • Expert knowledge of HTML, CSS, JS, jQuery, PHP and MySQL
  • Experience working with web services and asynchronous requests
  • Must understand and be able to implement a working system for version control (GitHub).
  • Not required by helpful experience: Node JS, Apache, nginx, Bootstrap, Angular JS, S3, React, and Sass (among many others).

Additional Experience Needed:

  • Experience maintaining high-level, complex sites long term (weekly, if not daily) performance tests / reports, and a system to ensure all plugins / themes and WP are always up to date.
  • Someone who understands website security best practices and can at least oversee the repair of a seriously or partially hacked site.
  • Solid background in analytics and site optimization
  • Domain expertise in UI/UX best practices. You are a problem solver with everything you develop to improve our site’s experience and drive conversion and action.
  • Personal interest in staying up-to-date on the latest trends, including agile methodology and emerging best practices in the UI community.
