This position is responsible for understanding and influencing the overall digital enterprise architect business strategy and processes and translating business strategy and processes into actionable digital IT Systems strategy supported by well-defined future state capabilities and transition plans. This position leads the process of aligning, defining, planning, and governing Information Technology (IT) globally. 

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate and lead discussions with cross-functional teams at multiple levels, across the business and Enterprise Systems to understand and influence the current business strategy and business processes.

 

  • Provide strategic consultation to assigned line-of-business (LOB) customers in defining or designing business processes, capabilities, and functions, as well as in researching, identifying and internally marketing enabling technologies based on customer requirements.

 

  • Seek ways to apply new technology to, and reuse existing technology for in support of Grainger business strategy; research and provide information on technical trends and practices relevant to assigned LOB customers.

 

  • Assess near-term to long terms needs, using structured methodology, to establish Enterprise Systems priorities; consult with technical subject matter experts and develop alternative technical solutions; Identify options, risks, costs vs. benefits, and impact analysis in support of

 

  • Work closely with the Shared Service, Solution Delivery, Infrastructure & Operations and Business Integration Managers to ensure alignment of future state transition plans with what is being delivered.

 

  • Complete quantitative and qualitative analysis of options, scenarios, and approaches created in support of Enterprise Systems Strategy, taking into account variables such as risk, time, cost, impact, and benefits.

 

  • Ability to make decisions by constructing sufficient context with assumptions, facts, sampling, research and testing to deal with varying degrees of ambiguity

 

Required

 

  • 10 to 15 years of experience in at least two IT disciplines in a global distributed, service-oriented architecture (SOA) or multi-tier environment, including technical architecture, network management, application development, middleware, database management or operations.
  • Expertise in Digital architecture at the enterprise level.
  • Exposure to multiple, diverse technologies and processing environments, including but not limited to SAP.
  • Demonstrated Ability to establish and maintain a high level of customer trust and confidence.
  • Comprehensive Knowledge of the IT industry and information technologies at a high and detailed level.
  • Strong analytical and conceptual skills; ability to create original concepts and theories in support of the Grainger Business strategy.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills, including teamwork, facilitation and negotiation.
  • Demonstrated Excellence with written and verbal communication skills.
  • Knowledge of all components of enterprise architecture.
  • Sound knowledge of financial models and budgeting.
  • Demonstrated strong leadership skills.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of facilitation and organization change management.
