The Role
The Accounting Manager is a key member of the finance team who is responsible for: providing leadership over the accounting functions of the company; the integrity and accuracy of financial data and systems; and, the monthly close process. This role also holds shared responsibility for financial planning. Specifically, you will:
- Manage/direct day-to-day activities related to chart of accounts, revenue accounting, billing and cash application, accounts receivable, accounts payable, fixed assets, travel reimbursement and other accounting related areas.
- Be accountable for GAAP compliance in all accounting areas, including but not limited to: revenue recognition (SaaS model); deferred revenue; unbilled receivables; royalty accounting; commissions; and, foreign currency translation.
- Manage/perform month-end close process and calendar.
- Manage/perform monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting (GAAP, Debt Covenant, etc.).
- Share responsibility to develop process for annual budgeting and periodic expense forecast process for all functional organizations, implementing across the company.
- Maintain and improve accounting controls and procedures.
- Manage treasury functions and banking relationships.
- Manage annual GAAP audit, 401K audit, and general interaction with external auditors.
- Manage general ledger system and reporting software.
- Participate in GAAP research and policy documentation.
- Other ad hoc general accounting projects as assigned.
- Future management of staff as team is developed.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting.
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) certification preferred.
- 7+ years of progressive accounting experience with a proven track record obtaining results and meeting deadlines.
- Experience in financial reporting and consolidations.
- Collaboration & teamwork: required.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP; experience with revenue recognition in the software/SaaS industry desirable.
- Strong leadership and supervisory skills.
- General ledger systems experience.
- Excellent Excel skills.
- Analytical skills and judgment: required to ensure that account reconciliations and reported financial results are accurate; ability to utilize problem solving skills to isolate problems/errors within tight time constraints.
- Initiative and results oriented, adaptable to change/flexibility: required to respond to changing needs of rapidly growing Company.
