Role Description
We are seeking an innovative A/P Specialist to fill a new position on our continually growing Accounting & Finance team, based in Chicago’s West Loop neighborhood. The position will report directly to Controller along with having daily interactions with the company’s CFO and Senior Accountant. The A/P Specialist will be detrimental in helping set up processes and efficiencies within the department to position itself for exponential growth in the coming years.
Your Responsibilities
- Ensure invoices are accurately coded, posted and processed in a timely manner
- Respond to and resolve vendor A/P inquires
- Contact vendors and internal departments to resolve invoice or payment discrepancies
- Verifies vendor accounts by reconciling monthly statements as needed
- Prepare and process electronic transfers and payments
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to build new processes, resolve issues, and streamline invoice processing
- Ensure that documentation for all payables is complete and accurate
- Supports monthly Accounts Payable accrual process as needed
- Perform other related duties and special projects as required
- Assist with AP reporting and analysis on a monthly basis
- Assist with monthly, quarterly and year-end close cycles
Experience/Skills Required
- Proven experience in an AP position is a plus
- Proficient in Microsoft Office with strong excel skills
- Strong communication and organization skills
- Must be flexible, conscientious, adapt easily, and be motivated by constant change
- Demonstrated time management skills with the ability to meet deadlines
- Ability to work well with a team, but can manage their workload independently
- Experience with Netsuite, preferred
