Director of Data and Analytics

We are looking for a Director of Data and Analytics to lead our business intelligence, data warehousing, and data reporting and visualization strategy.  In this exciting new role, the Director of Data and Analytics is a true hybrid:  part leader, part researcher, part analyst, part planner - with unmatched analytics skills.  With a positive, can-do attitude and approach to their work, the Director of Data and Analytics will support our continuous business intelligence efforts and learnings using data.

What you would do:

  • Collaborate with team members across the organization to define and document objectives, metrics, and data requirements for new reporting and analytic initiatives
  • Develop and maintain business intelligence project roadmap
  • Envision and Execute the data strategy with respect to business intelligence, data warehousing, meta-data management, data integration (ETL), and data stewardship
  • Deploy, maintain, and enhance data warehouse architecture, including conceptual design, data modeling, data security and data quality
  • Lead data integration efforts, including data compilation from internal and external sources
  • Design controls and monitoring mechanisms to ensure accuracy, timeliness and data integrity
  • Partner with and advise senior leaders on strategic initiatives 
  • Work alongside with technical and infrastructure/administration teams in order to ensure new data initiatives are successfully implemented
  • Demonstrate expertise in working with complex data sets, matching and querying data, and drawing actionable insights from different data sources to clearly communicate data stories to audiences of all levels
  • Identify performance insights and new best practices through data analytics and reporting
  • Support performance measurement and evaluation activities, including the development of performance indicator reports, dashboards and other projects
  • Be responsible for the ongoing identification of the organization's information and analytics needs to deliver and expand capabilities across business intelligence, forecasting, and optimization that ultimately enhance the company's strategic output
  • Manage and mentor one direct report

What we're looking for:

  • The willingness to jump in and get into the weeds of project execution
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, business analytics, or related field; Advanced degree a plus
  • 5+ years of progressive experience in data warehouse/business intelligence design, development, support and operations using leading tools and technologies
  • Proficiency with SQL and any ETL tool; Knowledge of R and Python a plus
  • Hands on experience with any one of these BI Tools: Tableau, SiSense, Power BI, Domo, Looker, QlikSense/Qlikview
  • Experience with cloud based systems and databases, preferably on AWS platform, is a plus
  • Exceptional communications skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to communicate complex concepts simply and effectively to audiences with limited knowledge of research or analytics
  • Ability to work on a number of tasks simultaneously, with experience organizing and prioritizing work quickly in response to changing needs
