FINANCIAL ANALYST - FINANCE
Sphera, the former Operational Excellence and Risk Management business of IHS Inc. (“Company”) is a leading global provider of enterprise software and services that enable companies to manage and optimize their environmental, health, safety and sustainability (“EHS&S”) processes. Amongst a wide variety of use cases, the software allows customers to standardize and automate processes such as incident reporting, to monitor emissions and ensure regulatory compliance and to track chemical inventory throughout a manufacturing cycle. The company was recently spun off by IHS and acquired by Genstar Capital, essentially positioning it as a $100MM start up.
Sphera is looking to hire a Financial Analyst who will play an integral role in the global forecasting, planning, and reporting processes. This position will report to the Manager of Financial Planning; and Analysis and provide key support to the company’s Director of Finance, CFO and extended Executive Team. Primary responsibilities include formulating analysis of financial and operational data to support effective decision-making that aligns with strategic and operational goals. Additionally, this role will provide ad-hoc analysis as needed for senior financial leadership. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills, an interest in financial data systems and the ability to design and implement reporting and processes.
Core Responsibilities:
- Assist in the annual budgeting and monthly forecasting processes including the analysis of monthly financial results against budgets and re-forecasting annual and quarterly projections based on current financial information.
- Prepare and refine monthly and quarterly bank reporting as well as presentations for Executive and Board of Directors meetings.
- Work closely with sales and operations management to assist with the execution of budget and forecast commitments, including communication to management of both progress toward attainment and plans to affect course corrections as necessary.
- Prepare financial and operational KPIs, including analysis by segment, product lines and professional service projects as well as modeling of operating expense trends, while identifying areas of opportunity to improve results.
- Construct financial models to evaluate pro-forma scenario planning around internal and external growth opportunities.
- Ad-hoc deep dives on pressing business issues across the business.
Qualifications and skills:
- 1-3 years of financial analyst experience with a Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- Strong modeling skills
- Intermediate to advanced PowerPoint and Excel skills required.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Ability to work in a fluid and fast paced environment with changing responsibilities
- NetSuite and Salesforce experience a plus, but not a requirement
