The Finance Analyst (Operations) will support ThoughtWorks North America by owning the reporting, forecasting, and optimization of the region’s $40M operations spend. The Financial Analyst will serve as an essential partner across the business functions, providing analysis, insights, and recommendations to identify needs and improve spending efficiency. Additionally, the Financial Analyst will aid accounting, accounts payable, invoicing, cash collection, and process improvement efforts.

You’ll spend time on the following:

• You will analyze department spending to understand spending drivers and variance to forecast
• You will Identify and reduce spending that is outside of approved scope or budget
• Partner with leadership to accurately forecast spend 3-6 months out
• Optimize big-ticket item spending (multiple quotes, research comps, etc.)
• Accurately report on the financial status of operations expense in the region
• Perform month-end close duties including services and expense recognition, recording financial transactions and accruals, reconciling balances, and identifying and reducing variances
• Collaborate with operations on analyzing and reevaluating institutional spending
• Work with the Accounts Payable team on services, expense invoicing and escalations
• Actively partner across finance and participate in knowledge sharing, improvement, and efficiency projects across ThoughtWorks systems, tools, and processes

 Here’s what we’re looking for:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required
• You have at least 3 years of professional experience as an accountant, auditor, or financial analyst OR valid CPA (Certified Public Accountant) certificate with at least 1 year of professional experience as an accountant, auditor, or finance analyst
• You apply your advanced analytical skills to uncover underlying variables and trends impacting the business and construct useful financial models to help inform and influence decisions
• You’re a details person: organizing data and striving for accuracy of results and forecasts excite you
• You have a natural ability to interpret contract language with respect to business services scope, pricing, discounting, and other relevant terms and conditions
• Expertise in systems such as PeopleSoft, Excel, and Google Business Suite apps
• You know Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and Generally Accepted Auditing Standards inside and out
• You understand project management principles and are comfortable applying them to how you work
