Flexport is looking for a Financial Reporting Manager to join our Finance team. Finance is central to Flexport’s success - creating transparency of company’s performance, financials, risks and internal controls, and building the people, process and product needed for the future of Flexport.

Reporting into the Assistant Controller, you will own the creation of the company’s quarterly and annual financial statements including footnotes, MD&A, and other relevant disclosures necessary for a publicly traded company and will work closely with the company’s external auditors.

You will:

  • Work independently to obtain needed information from subject matter experts
  • Proactively stay abreast of GAAP and SEC reporting updates

  • Effectively provide updates to stakeholders of any key issues that may impact deadlines or the quality of the financial reporting

You should have:

  • A Bachelor's degree or above in Accounting, with an active CPA license
  • 5+ years of working experience in public accounting (preferably Big 4) and in a publicly traded company
  • Manage the preparation, review and filing of the company’s SEC documents, including 10-Q and 10-K and earnings releases
  • Assist in process improvements and ad-hoc projects, including the evaluation and implementation of new accounting standards to ensure US GAPP compliance
  • Proven ability to build strong, cohesive relationships with the Finance, Tax, Treasury, and Legal teams
  • Experience participating in the annual audit and quarterly reviews with external auditors and preparing the annual and interim financial statements
  • A strong analytical, logical, and data driven sense
  • Strong attention to detail and proficient problem solving skills
  • Prioritization skills and the ability to execute on deliverables in a fast-paced, global, results-oriented environment
  • A willingness to embrace and drive changes

About Flexport:

We believe global trade can move the human race forward. That’s why it’s our mission to make global trade easier for everyone. We aim to do this by building the Operating System for Global trade - a strategic model combining advanced technology and data analytics, logistics infrastructure, and supply chain expertise. Flexport today connects almost 10,000 clients and suppliers across 116 countries, including established global brands like Georgia-Pacific as well as emerging innovators like Sonos. Started in 2013, we've raised over $1.3B in funding from SoftBank Vision Fund, Founders Fund, GV, First Round Capital and Y Combinator. We’re excited about the three big ways we’re moving forward after our $1B investment from SoftBank Vision Fund in February 2019.

Worried about not having any freight forwarding experience?

Don’t be! Many of us were once in your shoes.

Global trade is an infinitely fascinating but highly complex industry, where purchasing decisions are made every day rather than on an annually recurring basis. Don’t worry, you won’t need to become the world’s expert on ocean freight (we already hired that guy). We’ll look to you to apply your deep understanding of our key audiences, the funnel, and how to meet a digitally connected audience where they are.

It’s incredibly important for us to bring people from diverse backgrounds and experiences together with our industry veterans to help move this industry forward. Flexport is on a mission to make global trade easier for everyone because we believe it can help connect the world and break down economic barriers.

We know this industry is complex. That’s why we invest in education starting day one with Flexport Academy, a one week intensive onboarding program designed specifically to set every new Flexport employee up for success.

At Flexport, our ability to fulfill our mission of making global trade easy for everyone relies on having a diverse, dedicated and engaged workforce. That is why Flexport is committed to creating and nurturing an environment where anyone can be their authentic self. All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment regardless of race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, physical and mental disability, health status, marital and family status, sexual orientation, gender identity and expression, military and veteran status, and any other characteristic protected by applicable law.

An Insider's view of Flexport

What’s the vibe like in the office?

The people in this office are the cream of the crop. They’re down to earth and razor-sharp. You could go up to anyone in the office, ask them a question, and they will stop whatever they were doing and help you out every time.

We are solving the extreme complexity and opacity of trucking coordination and execution in international supply chains. We bring visibility and control to our customers while also reducing operational overhead.
