Intermodal Pricing Specialist
Essential Functions:
This role will be part of the Intermodal Business Development & Sales team with a focus on pricing/quoting intermodal shipments for current and new customers on a door to door, ramp to ramp basis. The Intermodal Pricing Specialist will interface with vendors and internal customer teams, while working to develop a broader intermodal strategy. Success in this role will be the ability to evaluate multiple options to move each freight lane and consistently work with the team in making the low cost, high service choices.
Day to Day Responsibilities:
- Quote & price intermodal freight
- Source new intermodal carriers
- Work with internal sales teams to convert over the road freight into intermodal freight
- Provide continuing education to the client sales teams regarding intermodal pricing
- RFP/Bid & Project freight pricing
- Help provide creative solutions to intermodal freight issues that are not readily resolved by client sales and the intermodal operations team
- Provide weekly reporting to sales managers on sales & intermodal production levels
- Evaluate all intermodal options for each shipment including door to door, ramp to door, ramp to ramp options.
- Develop relationships with rail and Asset Providers
- Maintain and manage any equipment outside of intermodal ramps – time and maintenance for better pricing
- Work with Ops team to improve service levels
- Help develop the overall intermodal strategy
- Work with internal drayage team to maximize asset utilization for Better Pricing
- Lead in lowering costs and growing margin
Qualifications:
- 4+ years industry experience within a pricing or operations capacity, intermodal preferred
