The Role:  Jr. Controller

Cappex is seeking a sharp, detail-oriented Junior Controller who is highly organized and is able to prioritize among diverse and competing tasks in a fast-paced environment. You will be responsible for the implementation and execution of the full-cycle accounts receivable function. The Junior Controller manages the daily finance and accounting operations, ensuring accuracy and consistency. Reports to Vice President of Finance.

What you would do:

  • Hands-on responsibility for day-to-day accounting functions such as A/R, Cash Receipts, and Revenue Recognition
  • Manage one direct report
  • Supervise, track, and evaluate daily operations of accounting department
  • Obtain and maintain a thorough understanding of the general ledger structure
  • Post journal entries; reconcile and review general ledger accounts for monthly and annual closing
  • Assist in the preparation of accurate and timely monthly and yearly financial reports
  • Support budget and forecasting activities
  • Provide training to new staff as needed
  • Assist with annual tax and accounting review
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement and automation
  • Support VP Finance with special projects
  • Perform ad hoc reporting and analysis
  • Other duties, as assigned

What we’re looking for:

  • BA/BS in Accounting or Finance
  • 4+ years of progressive accounting experience, with prior experience handling accounts receivable

Technical Skills and Prior Experience Needed

  • Strong attention to detail
  • Prior supervisory experience a plus
  • Ability to keep up in fast paced environment
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal and supervisory skills requirement
  • Ability to multi-task and work under pressure
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel User
  • Experience with QuickBooks is a plus
