Belvedere Trading is looking for highly quantitative and pragmatic individuals who are interested in gaining broad exposure to the financial markets and proprietary software through a challenging and comprehensive program as a Junior Hybrid Trader. This unique position was created to foster collaboration across our proprietary technology and trading strategies. As a Junior Hybrid Trader, you are at the forefront of technology immersion and will focus on projects related to trading logic development, electronic trading strategies, and quantitative research.
The Junior Hybrid Trader’s time is balanced between the development teams, learning best practices in software development, and the trading desks, implementing the most sophisticated trading strategies. The Hybrid position is the perfect opportunity for the highly quantitative and competitive individual who wants to build a broad base of skills for a successful tenure in the financial industry.
What our Junior Hybrid Traders do
Our Junior Hybrid Traders are assigned to specific quantitative development projects while learning concepts behind our core market-making operations. They are expected to quickly learn the critical aspects of option pricing and financial engineering, both on a theoretical level and in application with Belvedere’s various strategies. This position gives direct access to Position Managers and software development Team Leads to complete their broad training eventually leading to a permanent entrepreneurial role as a Quant Trader, Electronic Trading Strategist, or a high-powered Trade Logic Developer.
More specifically, our Junior Hybrid Traders
- Engage in continuous, hands-on training that includes education on option valuation, game theory, hedging, portfolio analysis, and simulated trading games
- Assist with order execution, position management, desk strategy meetings, trade checking, and trade reconciliations
- Actively learn and engage in both the trading and technology desks to gain a broad perspective of the marketplace and our code-base
- Communicate with technology team members to enhance trading software
- Learn the basics of design, implementing and testing enterprise software
- Develop strong architecture and development skills
- Lead and participate in special projects that enhance trader facing technologies
- Participate in quantitative research and the application of quantitative strategies
Key qualities in great candidates
- Effective communication skills and a team-oriented attitude
- Strong quantitative, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- Demonstrated participation in strategic competitive activities
- Training or demonstrated ability to learn languages such as C++, C#, and Python
- Knowledge of the financial markets and trading industry is a plus, but not a prerequisite
- Graduation date of December 2019 or May/June 2020
- Regular on-site attendance is an essential function of this position
