Operations Analyst
Key Accountabilities
- Perform intraday and next day trade reconciliation.
- Identify and resolve trade/settlement breaks, conduct analysis to determine root causes, and ensure timely corrections at clearing firm.
- Work with IT and Trading to ensure proper trade flow; on-board new exchanges, clearing firms, and trading platforms.
- Understand the life of a trade from the time it is executed to the time it settles in the account, including the fees associated with each transaction.
- Liaise between clearing firms and trading; open new accounts and execute position/trade/cash transfers.
- Monitor high level account balances and margin/collateral requirements in conjunction with risk; execute transfers to properly fund accounts and lower margin requirements.
- Calculate daily P&L.
- Work with exchanges and outside vendors to reconcile fees.
- Work with IT and trading to establish connectivity to the exchanges.
- Quickly learn new tools/procedures/structures and continually analyze and look for ways to improve upon them
- Work with large amounts of data and create ad hoc reports as needed; look for long term solutions for reporting
- Work in cross functional teams to create solutions across multiple departments and to improve quality and efficiency within support
- Interact with other areas of support on a daily basis and understand important risk, compliance, finance, and legal topics
Knowledge and skill requirements
- Bachelor's in Finance, Economics, Mathematics, or related quantitative field (B.S. preferred)
- 1-2 years work experience in finance or trading environment preferred but not required
- Prior interaction with trading and technology groups a plus
- Strong MS Office application skills (VBA knowledge a plus)
- Database knowledge a plus (SQL preferred)
- Must have series 7 or be prepared to get series 7 within 6 months of hire
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills
- Adaptable and able to work well under pressure
- Team player with strong communication skills
- Ability to gather and communicate business requirements
