Our Finance Team is seeking a Payroll Analyst for payroll and equity administration for all US and Global employees and the related accounting functions. This is a key role in the Finance team that will also partner with the Human Resources team.

This role will be fully remote while our office locations are closed. Once our Chicago office location fully reopens, this will be a hybrid office and remote position with a maximum of 2-3 days in our Chicago office.

Your contributions to SilkRoad will include: 

Payroll

  • Handles monthly, semi-monthly, one-off multi-state and global payroll runs, including withholdings, garnishments, wage verifications, coordination with local and international payroll providers, and ensuring accuracy of timesheets and employee data, resolution of discrepancies, and preparation of reports.
  • Reviews new and updated employee details in the payroll systems and reconcile to appropriate documentation. Processes changes to employee payroll data.
  • Maintains payroll related validation tables in ADP payroll. Coordinates with ADP to set up new earnings, deductions codes, special calculations such as 401(k) match, GTL, and state withholding.
  • Assists in the setup of new tax jurisdictions and updates/maintains unemployment (UI) and local tax rates.
  • Maintains current knowledge of payroll-related federal and state regulations.
  • Ensures compliance of ADP and Ceridian Canada tax filings with regards to federal, state, and local filings.
  • Ensures compliance with other relevant tax requirements (not included in ADP and Ceridian tax filings), workers compensation, wage reporting, and other regulations/requirements.
  • Inputs employee stock options into an equity plan management system, maintains employee records, and records stock option activity.

Accounting Support

  • Assists in the month-end close process for payroll related accounts, including preparation of payroll reports required to complete journal entries and reconciliations of accounts.
  • Maintains the general ledger interface from ADP, and makes updates as needed.

Reporting and Other

  • Prepares reports from payroll system to upload into Fidelity 401(k) and Basic FSA, each pay period.
  • Prepares and provides schedules and documents for audits (e.g., financial, 401(k), workers compensation).
  • Prepares annual labor related surveys and statistics reporting.
  • Maintains monthly headcount reporting by department and location.
  • Manages annual W-2, T-4 process and prepares annual tax forms 3921 for exercised stock options.
  • Documents and assesses current compensation related controls and processes and implements respective improvements.
  • Assists in the preparation/review of additional analysis, reports, and special projects, as requested.

Required Skills

  • Strong attention to detail and an ability to work autonomously.
  • Strong organization and time management skills and an ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines.
  • High level of discretion and a clear and professional verbal and written communication style.
  • Proficiency with ADP and Excel. Experience with Microsoft Dynamics GP is a plus. Experience implementing new accounting systems is a plus.
  • Willingness to learn new skills and take on new projects.
  • Independent learner who actively works to improve competencies and increase effectiveness.
  • Goal oriented self-starter that demonstrates initiative.

Required Experience

  • Minimum of three years full cycle multi-state payroll experience for at least 100+ exempt/non-exempt employees in the US. Canada and other International payroll experience is a plus.
  • Experience using ADP payroll system, importing employee/pay data, and ADP reporting.
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance is preferred.
  • Active CPP (Certified Payroll Professional) accreditation, or scheduled to complete exam with 12 months is preferred.
  • Experience working in a SaaS (Software-as-a-Service) or other technology company is a plus.
