                                                                                                                                                                           We are currently seeking a hard-working, dedicated Payroll Manager in our Chicago, IL office to join our innovative and passionate team.

    The Payroll Manager ensures effective solutions and communications across all functions, fostering collaborative relationships within the organization, developing and implementing best practices and creating strategies and efficient processes. 

    This leader will be charged with staying abreast of leading and cutting edge practices in Payroll. The position will provide oversight and direction for the overall corporate payroll functions including, payroll processing, payroll taxes, policy and procedure review, as well as ensuring the accurate and timely delivery of payroll services, driving best practices and process improvements in the payroll function.

    Accountabilities/Responsibilities: 

    • Oversees semi-monthly payroll and commission processing.
    • Main interface with Human Resources department for payroll and benefits information.
    • Compile data and transmit to payroll provider; balances payroll reports to ensure net pay properly calculated by outside service provider.
    • Directs staff responsible for processing payroll and related functions including general ledger entries, payroll reconciliations, and periodic audits. 
    • Collaborates and communicates effectively with department heads regarding payroll issues and system improvements. 
    • Investigates payroll best practices and recommends policy and procedural enhancements to improve productivity and cost effectiveness. 
    • Evaluates current system performance, vendors and processes in order to identify problems and opportunities, recommend solutions, and implement changes.
    • Responds to escalated payroll-related inquiries including but not limited to payroll deductions, wage garnishments, child support payments, and employee compensation/commission inquiries; resolves employee issues.
    • Drive projects to create efficiencies, improve quality of service delivery, and increase employee satisfaction.

     

    Qualifications:

    • Minimum 5+ years experience in Payroll
    • Bachelors Degree or above required
    • 4+ years management experience
    • Experience with Ceridian preferred
    • Experience with ADP a minimum
    • Effective communication (verbal and written)
    • Interpersonal and problem-solving skills
    • Ability to work effectively with teams
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word and Outlook
