JOB DESCRIPTION

Primary Purpose:

Responsible for facilitating cost saving opportunities, developing and implementing departmental process changes, and working with product managers to identify additional ways to reduce customer acquisition costs.  Support project management initiatives along with supporting the expense management and day-to-day interactions with the third party vendors utilized by the Preferred Home and Auto Insurance Group of National General Insurance. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Following is a summary of the essential functions for this job. Other duties may be performed, both major and minor, which are not mentioned below. Specific activities may change from time to time.

  • Manage vendor budgets, open/close purchase orders, audit and process monthly provider invoices, and work with corporate finance to track monthly accrual charges
  • Identify trends and make recommendations to address those trends and improve reporting tools
  • Maintain complex measurements and monitor contract fees across multiple third party vendor relationships
  • Participate in the analysis of potential new tools for improved underwriting risk selection  
  • Support the day-to-day management of vendor interactions and inquiries from internal and external sources and remediate any issues that arise
  • Work on projects which directly affect the bottom line of the company
  • Collect project requirements to support the development of a project plan, coordination of resources and communication of status updates for product implementations
  • Provide personalized support to a variety of internal and external parties including suppliers, underwriting, technology, sales, claim and operations
  • Provide models of costs savings based on various different inputs  
  • Identify, design, build, and implement processes and tools to support the Product Management team

Minimum Skills and Competencies:

  • Bachelor Degree or in-lieu of degree equivalent education, training and work-related experience
  • 2+ years of experience in one of the following areas: project management, accounting, finance or vendor management
  • Ability to drive for results, deal with ambiguity, solve problems, make decisions, see trends/patterns within data sets and identify root causes
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills necessary to present information to senior management and other functional areas
  • Effective organization and time management skills with the ability to work under pressure and adhere to project deadlines
  • Enthusiastic, results oriented, analytical, detail minded, inquisitive and willing to push for excellence  
  • Highly proficient in managing and manipulating data in Excel
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)

Desired Skills:

  • Previous experience within the insurance industry
