Department OverviewThe Global Procurement Organization provides the resources, processes, governance, systems and controls for acquiring goods and services efficiently, effectively and ethically from a diverse supply base that provides Motorola Solutions a competitive advantage on cost, quality, technology, service and delivery. The Product Procurement Organization is responsible for the acquisition of all Hardware, Software and Supply Chain Services required for Motorola to design, build and distribute Radio and Accessory products. The Global Procurement team is evolving from more traditional sourcing and procurement goals by looking beyond simple cost savings and creating value for the corporation by improving product profitability, increasing supplier collaboration and leveraging supplier roadmaps to bring new solutions to our business partners. We are a client focused team designed to bring value and help lead innovations, revenue and savings within the business.
In this role you will:
Lead the Semiconductor Category team under the Product Procurement Organization
Lead and manage the work of Category Managers across all Semiconductor categories. Develop and execute cohesive category strategies in the semiconductor space, with focus on developing a supply base to meet the changing requirements based on product needs, analyzing market trends and business environment along with determining long term commercial strategic direction
Work with the global Product Management and Engineering organizations to structure commercial negotiations, agreements, SLA's and total cost of ownership in ways that optimize capital expenditures, operating expenses, and risk management ensuring alignment with their business strategies for revenue growth, margin goals and customer satisfaction.
Influence business stakeholders in support of Procurement initiatives
Institute procedures for collecting and reporting key metrics including market benchmarking that will reduce our overall expenses while maintaining supply continuity.
Develop appropriate relationships with senior leaders in the Product Management and Engineering organization
Leading supplier contract negotiations ensuring a framework for a strategic contractual relationship, managing non-disclosure and corporate supplier agreements.
Providing subject matter expertise on complex purchasing, legal & contractual issues.
Defining governance around best practices and purchasing policies.
Commit and achieve targets for cost reductions aligned with the business leaders through negotiations, even driven activities and alternate sourcing.
Manage overall Supplier relationships including reviews with focus on performance, roadmap alignment, risk mitigation & cost and quality improvements.
Actively seek input from internal/external customers to better understand their needs as well as their reaction to the organization's business plans.
Bachelor's Degree (in Supply Chain, Procurement, or Engineering)
8 years of Procurement Category Management or equivalent.
3 years of Management Experience
Excellent managerial and negotiation skills
Product management or technical experience in the areas of Hardware/Software Product Development.
Ability to formulate value propositions, cost-benefit analyses and justifications for taking a particular course of action.
Strong experience managing complex strategic sourcing projects.
Experience running the RFx process.
Manage and coordinate contract negotiations process to ensure the terms and conditions maximize the business benefit, while reducing the cost and risk to Motorola, without much legal guidance.
Actively seeks input from internal/external customers to better understand their needs as well as their reaction to the organization's business plans.
Strong analytical, communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work at various levels of management including internal and external Executive levels.
Evaluate team’s talent and performance in achieving organization's goals, mission and objectives. Attracting, recruiting and retaining high caliber people. Selecting candidates needed for both short and long-term success. Developing successors and talent pools for key positions.
Up to 25% travel required
This position will be located in the Chicago, Ft. Lauderdale/Plantation, Dallas or Vancouver, Canada Motorola office sites.
