We are looking for an analytical and driven revenue operations professional to join our team!  You’ll be responsible for building, owning and maintaining our go-to-market processes, reporting, and tech stack.

As a fast-growing SaaS company, agility and speed is part of our DNA.  To do this effectively, transparency into our revenue “engine” is incredibly important - it lets us spot opportunities, identify bottlenecks, and find solutions.  This role will be at the forefront of that effort:  you’ll ensure that we have a complete picture of our go-to-market operations, and that this picture is clear across our company.

You must be detail-oriented, with strong prioritization and communication skills. You have a passion for technology and analytics. You’re someone who gets excited to roll up their sleeves and understand the details, is always curious about the “why,” and wants to help build our Revenue Operations function as we grow.

Okay, but what do we actually do? We are doing something really exciting at Narrative Science; building the future data + analytics. We create software that writes stories from data - it’s the first of its kind technology, and we are passionate about shaping how human beings interact with data.  So our company is all about the intersection of people and data, and our team lives that every day.  We wake up every day to help humans understand and act on data - and you’ll help us realize that mission.

Responsibilities:

Own our marketing and sales technology stack.

    • Be the go-to expert on our go-to-market technology (marketing automation, CRM, internal reporting tools)
    • Lead projects involving our these tools, including:  technical management of marketing campaigns, measuring and reporting results, or building automations to support our Sales teams

Build transparency into our “revenue engine.”

    • Ensuring we have effective self-service reporting
      • Design, develop and maintain critical metrics, and provide reporting across our teams
      • Ensure data accuracy and end-to-end health of our databases
      • Structure our lead scoring and definition. Build out the new lead scoring in our automation platform and Salesforce
      • Continually measure and report on the performance of core conversion assets and campaigns
    • Perform targeted analysis to help us understand the “why” behind the data, for example:
      • Conduct campaign and A/B testing analysis with our growth marketing team, with a focus on performance optimization
      • Develop and implement a multi-touch attribution model
      • Develop a deep understanding of our target buyer personas and customer journeys

Continuously improve our processes.

    • Design, develop and maintain core marketing operation processes
    • Create operational documentation including the mapping of workflows and procedure

Qualifications

  • Proven quantitative, analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Experience working in a marketing/sales operations, or analytics, function
  • Proficiency with a marketing automation tool (preferably Marketo), and CRM (preferably Salesforce)
  • Experience integrating marketing automation software with other technologies
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate with internal and external stakeholders and cross-functional team members
  • Proficient in BI platforms, ideally Tableau
  • Familiarity with SQL
  • Familiarity with Google Analytics and developing non-obvious insights from existing campaigns

Culture @ Narrative Science

Narrative Science believes that data storytelling can empower everyone to understand and take action from their data. Our mission is to build software that leverages artificial intelligence to automatically turn data into easy-to-understand reports, transforms statistics into stories, and converts numbers into knowledge.

Our core virtues (mission-driven, impactful, team first, innovative) are ingrained in everything we do, from how we develop our technology to how we interact with customers to how we hire people. Since 2020, we have embraced a remote approach and are on a journey to ingrain that in our culture.  All while being immersed in our culture of learning, collaboration, innovation, and customer impact.

At Narrative Science, we embrace the diverse backgrounds, experiences, and perspectives of our future employees, colleagues, customers, partners, and other stakeholders. We provide equal employment opportunities (EEO) to all employees and applicants for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, age, disability, marital status, citizenship, genetic information, or any other characteristic protected by law.

An Insider's view of Narrative Science

What are some social events your company does?

Our social committee (which is comprised of volunteers from all different teams) plans a variety of events throughout the year including company outings and in-house parties to embody the company culture. Thanks to this committee, the NS team enjoys everything from pop-up game nights to an annual holiday party, summer party and Oktoberfest.

How do you collaborate with other teams in the company?

At Narrative Science, teams collaborate every day. When it comes to background, experience, and points of view, we are a very diverse company, and our employees take full advantage of that. It isn't uncommon to see functional teams pulling in members from other teams to work on initiatives together or even just to get another opinion.

What makes someone successful on your team?

Successful people on my team have a passion for customers & a drive to deliver the best results to them. They're creative problem solvers who thrive in a collaborative environment. Each customer has unique needs & high-performers in Customer Success are experts at identifying those needs and rallying every resource necessary to take care of them.

What unique initiatives do you have that encourage innovation?

At Narrative Science, we support a spectrum of innovation ranging from our standard engineering process, through Hack Days and Hackathons, to our ongoing Incubator team. What are some things you learned at the company?

On the job learning isn’t just a role description, it’s a reality. In 6 months, I have learned Python scripting, HTML tagging, and API configuration. Colleagues taught me about NLG & NLP, Gross & Net Retention, and freshwater & saltwater eels. But most importantly, NS has taught me that we shouldn’t be afraid of data, data should be afraid of us.
