STATS is currently seeking a Senior Accountant at its Global Headquarters in Chicago. Reporting to the Controller, the Senior Accountant is involved in the accounting close process, preparation of GAAP and management financial statements, assessment of technical accounting issues, implementation of systems and process improvements and leading interim/annual audits. We are looking for an independent, self-starter with the experience, ability and drive to seek out areas that need refinement and improvement. The Senior Accountant will need strong knowledge of GAAP, a good understanding of general ledger structure and financial reporting, and an ability to identify and communicate relevant issues to relevant stakeholders for a timely and accurate resolution. 

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and review journal entries, supported by sufficient documentation & calculations
  • Prepare and review monthly account reconciliations and analyses for various balance sheet accounts
  • Evaluate certain foreign subsidiary submissions, working directly with local accountants and global team members to ensure accuracy of reporting
  • Lead preparation and review of adhoc requests
  • Participate in departmental expense reviews for actuals, budget, and forecasting
  • Prepare financial statements (IS, BS, Cash Flow) and perform financial statement review and variance analysis
  • Lead month-end/quarter-end/year-end close and other areas of accounting
  • Manager global inter-company eliminations, foreign exchange translations, and consolidations
  • Prepare PBC files and walkthroughs for external auditors and assist in the conduct of the audit engagement; play a key role in the compilation and issuance of audited financials at year end
  • Perform technical accounting research on emerging issues including the writing of accounting memos and generation of supporting calculations
  • Ensure that all activities related to this job position are accomplished in an ethical, prudent and secure manner

What You'll Need:

  • 4+ years of experience in various accounting roles with supervisory experience a plus
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business or any other related field of study; CPA certification or progress towards it preferred
  • Extensive experience with Excel and PowerPoint
  • Strong knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and experience with the month-end close process; understanding of software revenue recognition concepts is a plus
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, as well as interpersonal skills (ability to collaborate with internal and external customers and team members)
  • Absolute integrity and the use of good judgment to handle the confidential nature of duties, tasks and information
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail; must be able to prioritize tasks to meet deadlines and demands
  • Close attention to detail with a focus on extreme accuracy
  • A demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced environment, meet time-sensitive deadlines and work well through ambiguity and complexity
