Summary

Responsible for monthly/quarterly reporting process, annual planning process, monthly/quarterly forecast process, and various complex ad hoc requests to be determined by MRP&A and executive leadership.

Major Duties:

  • Participate in the monthly/quarterly/annual close validation/reporting process, prepare result summaries relative to benchmarks (Plan/Prior Periods/Forecast).
  • Participate in the analysis of monthly/quarterly/annual results and preparation of result summaries to various stakeholders.
  • Conduct and lead special projects, ad hoc requests, and scenario analysis originating from various business needs and/or senior management requests.
  • Operate Allocated Equity and Funds Transfer Pricing (FTP) allocations for Northern Trust. Work with Treasury to modify/create related methodologies and work with Finance IT to implement them into NT's Financial Reporting system.
  • Prepare agenda items and coordinate preparation of materials for recurring FTP Committee meetings. Lead the preparation of quarterly FTP reports presented at the FTP Committee.
  • Create/Maintain methodology documentation for compliance with internal policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Create proforma impact assessments ahead of allocation rule changes. Participate in User Acceptance Testing for modifications to allocation methodologies.
  • Oversee the maintenance of the account, product, LOB hierarchies, as conducted by a peer MRPA partner. Proactively estimate the impact of new account/product/center placements in the hierarchy and ensure timely communication of impacts across all impacted stakeholders.
  • Troubleshoot reporting issues and spec out/prepare manual adjustments to address 1-time or recurring issues encountered in NT's Financial reporting systems. Communicate with business partners to understand, troubleshoot, and address issues.
  • Participate in NT's monthly NII and Equity forecast process by working with client facing business units, NT's Economic Research Department (ERD) and Treasury and create presentation materials to be shared with senior management.
  • Prepare NT's annual NII and Equity Plan by working with various stakeholders and create presentation materials to be shared with senior management.

Knowledge/Skills

Analytical and problem solving skills required to evaluate financial results and projections. Effective written and verbal communication skills are necessary to present relevant information to senior management and business unit officers. Strong personal computer skills (Excel, PowerPoint, Power BI, Word, financial systems) are required to perform analyses and communicate financial information. Knowledge of accounting, reporting and financial analysis usually acquired through an advanced degree program or related work experience is required.

Experience Required

5 - 8 years of related experience with emphasis on management reporting, planning, and analysis and special projects.
