The Role:

The Senior Analytics Manager will head the Portfolio Optimization. This team is responsible for the research, design, creation implementation, and management of the machine learning models and strategies which power Braviant's underwriting, fraud prevention, loan offers, pricing, loss forecasting and portfolio management for our consumer lending businesses. This role reports directly to the Chief Risk and Analytics Officer and has the opportunity for a wide-ranging impact on the strategic direction of the business.

What you'll be doing:

  • Providing credit opportunity to serve the needs of the under banked
  • Continuous testing and optimizing underwriting models and strategies
  • Executing on a disciplined growth strategy that properly balances short-term vs. long-term profitability while mitigating risk
  • Developing unit-level profitability analysis and loan loss forecasting to track and optimize performance across our portfolio segments
  • Collaborating across the organization to establish and monitor critical KPI’s, support infrastructure and product development, and forecast customer level performance
  • Maintaining the quality of our tools, machine learning models and documentation and ensure we have robust Credit Policies, Model Governance, and Underwriting Guidelines
  • Researching strategies, best practices, and evaluating third party data products and services to ensure Braviant’s analytics continue to be our competitive advantage
  • Monitoring fraud activity and recommend necessary operational and technical solutions
  • Building and leading the team that accomplishes the above goals through machine learning model, tool and strategy creation and implementation

What you'll bring:

  • Master's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Applied Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, another quantitative field or comparable experience
  • 3+ years of experience leading and developing a team of predictive modelers / analytics professionals with a results focused approach
  • 7+ years of professional experience in a heavily analytical role
  • Expert proficiency in languages used for data manipulation and statistical analysis e.g. R/Python/SQL
  • Hands-on experience building creative applications of predictive modeling techniques including decision trees, linear and non-linear modeling, boosting, ensemble models, stacked generalization and a strong desire to keep skills up to date and explore new methodologies over time
  • Knowledge of optimization, stochastic processes, experiment design and analysis

Bonus Points:

  • 2+ years of unsecured consumer lending experience
  • Knowledge of best practices in Credit Risk, Underwriting, Loss Forecasting and Portfolio Management for unsecured consumer lending products
  • You understand when spend the extra time to automate the boring stuff after you have found the elegant solution

Location

Our company is located in the heart of downtown with great access to public transportation (both Metra & CTA), coffee shops, and restaurants. Currently our teams are working remotely for the foreseeable future.
