Our Financial Institutions Group - Investment Research Group (FIG IRG) is looking to add an AVP reporting to the FIG IRG team leader. The team resides within Commercial Underwriting & Portfolio Management and provides a research function that assists FIG’s efforts in sector and deal selection, marketing, and brand awareness to mitigate risk while driving incremental revenue.
Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Monitor and develop a forward-looking view on industry dynamics, secular changes and regulatory trends to identify emerging opportunities and threats
Provide differentiated investment research through synthesis and analysis of multi-source data and market information
Communicate changes in the marketplace that could impact the portfolio or new strategic initiatives to business leaders, risk, legal and other business partners
Prepare various written analyses for new sector and client prospect identification, market updates, portfolio reviews and credit committees
Support deal screening, due diligence, and structuring, particularly in higher risk or new sectors
Provide support to Capital Markets efforts to enhance capabilities as a trusted advisor with clients
Support FIG’s participation in thought leadership at industry forums
Responsibilities commensurate with experience; long-term opportunity to increase exposure
The ideal candidate will possess:
Experience with financial institution clients in commercial or investment banking, equity/fixed income research and/or structured finance at a rating agency
Strong verbal and written communication skills with ability to present to clients and senior management and effectively interact at all levels of the organization
Ability to manage multiple projects while maintaining a high quality of work
Strong analytical and credit risk skills, with the ability to simplify complex concepts into meaningful insights
Execution oriented and self-motivated
Ability to work cross-functionally and within a team environment
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree or military experience
At least 10 years’ of experience in lending to financial institutions or at least 7years’ of experience in structured finance securitization or at least 7years’ of experience in rating agency analysis
Preferred Qualifications:
At least 7 years' combination of experience in lender finance, structured finance securitization and/or rating analysis
Master of Business Administration (MBA) or Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA)
FINRA licensed (Series 7, 79, 63)
Capital markets knowledge, ABS experience a plus
Entrepreneurial mindset
7 years of experience in an IB Research department or underwriter at full-scale mortgage lender institution (MS, BAML, JPM, Amherst)
