Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced international tax professional to join our Corporate Tax Division. This tax professional will manage tax compliance throughout the income tax life cycle for the international area as it impacts financial statement tax provisions, the consolidated federal income tax return, and taxing authority examination inquiries. Responsibilities also include performing tax research, tax analytics, and forecasting of tax projections. This position will also collaborate within the Tax Division on implementing and owning automated technology solutions for improved operational outcomes, in addition to providing exposure to Tax Division leadership.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Perform a combination of duties in accordance with departmental guidelines:
- Manages relationship with foreign affiliates and responsible for providing oversight and analysis in coordinating the local country tax provisions as well as U.S. tax impacts of foreign results.
- Manages US foreign filing requirements by preparing and reviewing foreign reporting within the U.S. federal consolidated income tax return, excise tax returns, information reporting returns, U.S. territory filings, and others, as required.
- Participates in the identification and management of various international and domestic tax issues, determining the nature and complexity of the issue and scope of assigned projects.
- Participates in the preparation, review, and analysis of domestic insurance and non-insurance corporate federal income tax returns, utilizing automated processes within Corptax software.
- Identifies and executes efficiency and technology improvements to enhance existing tax processes
- Consults and partners with other corporate finance divisions and business peers to address tax issues and meet organizational objectives.
- Stays up-to-date with and educates others of trends and developments within the international arena and insurance industry, from both a tax compliance and accounting perspective.
- Delivers professional and timely services to internal and external customers
- Develops, coaches and mentors other tax professionals.
May perform additional duties as assigned.
Skills, Knowledge & Abilities
- Strong knowledge of international provisions of the Internal Revenue Code and related tax guidance, including Tax Cuts and Jobs Act provisions, foreign source income, foreign tax credits and basket limitation calculations, controlled foreign corporations, foreign branches, federal excise taxes, GILTI and BEPS reporting, and transfer pricing concepts.
- Strong knowledge of Sub Chapter C taxation in general. Experience with insurance taxation is a plus.
- Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and related pronouncements such as Accounting Standards Codification Topic 740: Income Taxes (ASC 740). Knowledge of Statements of Statutory Accounting Principles (SSAP) and Statement of Statutory Accounting Principles No. 101 (SSAP 101) is a plus.
- Strong tax research and written communication skills, including memo writing and position documentation
- Strong critical thinking and decision making skills, using data to inform decision making.
- Strong technology skills with a focus toward automated solutions and ownership of improved operational outcomes. CorpTax software experience is a plus, in addition to Workday general ledger platform experience.
- Ability to influence tax and business professionals.
- Exhibit leadership skills for other tax professionals to emulate.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex tax issues in a simplified manner.

Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting. Masters degree of Science in Taxation preferred.
- Certified Public Accountant designation.
- Minimum of 6-8 years of public or corporate tax experience.
