Department OverviewThe position is part of the Corporate Controller's organization and directly reports to the Corporate Accounting Manager. The Corporate Accounting Manager has responsibility for consolidation of worldwide financial statements, monthly accounting close procedures and a subset of technical accounting functions.
Job Description
The selected candidate will be responsible for accounting for activity related to employee benefits, insurance costs, investments and Intercompany eliminations.
The individual will have responsibilities for the execution of accounting close processes over the Company's consolidated financial statements.
Perform accounting for US and Canada Health & Welfare Benefit programs (i.e. Medical, Dental & Life Insurance; 401K; Short-Term Disability, Long-Term Disability, etc.)
Period accounting for US Pension Plans, Investments, Legal Reserves, Deferred Compensation and Insurance Other than Group (IOTG)
Preparing journal entries
Reconciling account balances
Preparing quarterly footnotes for the 10-Q and 10-K
Managing the external audit request list
Preparing properly supported wires for legal settlements
Leading the processing and review of late-entries during month and quarter-end close across all regions
Organizing and leading reviews of the result of foreign and domestic teams tor periodic trends in the balance sheet
The Individual should be able to work cross-functionally with key internal and external stakeholders including treasury, HR, tax, FP&A and operating finance teams as well as the external auditors
The individual will have the opportunity to work on ad-hoc projects such as acquisitions, technical accounting projects and external reporting
Additional Knowledge/Skills:
Bachelors Degree; preferably in finance or accounting
Strong analytical and organizational abilities
Effective oral and written communication skills up/down/across the organization
High level of interpersonal skills and commitment to teamwork and partnership
Knowledge of MSI internal control environment as a significant asset
Advanced technical accounting skills
Highly proficient in Excel/Tableau or similar
Project management/organization skills a plus
