Job Description
What You'll Do:
Position reports to the Senior Manager of Regulatory Reporting residing in Delaware and will primarily support regulatory reporting on behalf of Discover Bank. Position requires the ability to focus on several moderately complex business activities and effectively respond to changing work priorities. Demonstrates subject matter expertise on concepts unique to role, problem-solving and analysis. Regularly engages with business partners or auditors to facilitate understanding of reporting and controls.
Assesses the design and operating effectiveness of the control environment over the areas of responsibility. Requires moderate degree of judgement for the appropriate application of Corporate Policy, GAAP, Regulation or established framework. Regularly makes evaluations of facts and circumstances and is able to effectively communicate conclusions and recommendations for remediation or process improvements. Able to advance responsibilities and/or priorities largely independent of management oversight.
Position works closely with Treasury, Legal, various areas within Finance and the Bank’s banking regulators.
How You'll Do It:
Assists in the preparation of required regulatory reporting with ownership of certain schedules. Ensure new requirements are communicated and implemented correctly. Assist with questions from regulators and regulatory exams.
Supports regulatory reporting on behalf of Discover Financial Services (Bank Holding Company) and Discover Bank.
Monitors and researches regulatory requirements and updates to ensure compliance with FFIEC, FDIC and Federal Reserve reporting requirements.
Liases between the Reporting Department and other business units.
Supports new business initiatives and ensure proper regulatory treatment, impact to reporting and data availability. Participates in working groups and peer calls.
Assists in the on-going review and maintenance of Policies and Procedures related to Regulatory Reporting. Provide supporting documentation and updates for policies and procedures as required.
Preparation of daily and weekly reporting to the Federal Reserve Bank.
Assists in the preparation quarterly FDIC Call Report for Discover Bank, ensuring new reporting guidance and requirements are implemented correctly.
Preparation of monthly pledge reporting to the Federal Reserve Bank.
Preparation of monthly intercompany service fee calculations and invoicing.
What You'll Need:
Minimum:
Bachelor's Finance, Accounting or Business
2+ years Financial Reporting, Regulatory Reporting, Accounting, Financial Analyst, or related experience Preferred
Excellent communication, organizational and problem solving skills
Must be able to work in an environment with changing expectations
Must be able to interact effectively with varying levels of management and have the ability to work independently.
Preferred:
Regulatory Reporting experience
Banking / Industry experience
System preferences include EPM Cloud, Tableau, Regulatory systems (SmartCall, Reporting Central, etc.) and MS Office.
In Lieu of Education Experience:
6+ years Financial Reporting, Regulatory Reporting, Accounting, or related experience
