We take the lead role on many projects and partner with development and architecture firms on unique retail, residential, commercial and mixed use properties. As a Staff Accountant , you will have an opportunity to rapidly develop your accounting and analysis skills in a fast-paced real estate development environment. You’ll get exposure to working with a wide variety of asset types and real estate projects. 

What you’ll do in this role:

• Prepare monthly journal entries to reconcile general ledger accounts between internal systems and external statements
• Perform daily general ledger functions such as cash balancing and forecasting, fixed asset schedule management, and recording income and expense accruals to support month-end close
• Assist with preparation of financial statements in accordance with GAAP
• Process accounts payables across multiple properties
• Interact with development management team to book and reconcile construction in process activity with monthly draws
• Interact with asset management team to resolve tenant-related accounting issues, provide notices to tenants and process receivables
• Calculate tenant charges in accordance with lease terms
• Monitor debt service payments
• Maintain high level of data integrity of financial information in complex accounting and back office systems
• Provide monthly financial package to corporate accounting team for portfolio of properties; provide explanation of income statement variances to budget
• Lead ad-hoc projects and create ad-hoc reports as needed

 What you’ll need for this role:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting; CPA is a plus
• Previous real estate accounting experience
• Previous experience with Yardi
• Strong experience using and creating reports in Excel
• Strong knowledge of GAAP
• Strong organizational skills and strong detail orientation
• Ability to prioritize, multitask and effectively manage changing priorities
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
