Cars.com is seeking a Staff Accountant on a long-term basis who can grow with the company. We offer employees opportunities to increase their skill sets and marketability as accounting professionals. Cars.com recently became a stand-alone public company in June 2017. Employees will gain experience navigating the new processes and procedures required for a public company including re-aligning financial reporting and helping with SEC public filings. This position reports to the Financial Reporting Manager.

Responsibilities include:

• Learn nVision PeopleSoft reporting tool used for internal financial statements
• Update and improve financial reports and processes
• Compile and remit financial information and help provide variance explanations as part of the close process
• Tie-out and review SEC filings such as the 10-Q and 10-K reports
• Perform ad hoc reports and analysis for the Controller and CFO, and other projects as needed
• Support external financial audit requests
• Coordinate with internal audit team on Sarbanes-Oxley testing and other internal control improvements and documentation
• Prepare and record journal entries related to assigned departments which includes reviewing and preparing analysis to support journal entries
• Prepare monthly reconciliations
• Create process documentation for new and existing processes

 REQUIRED EXPERIENCE

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
• 1-3 years of public accounting or auditing experience (within medium to large size company preferred)
• Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or plans to sit for the CPA
