One of Chicago's fastest growing tech startups is looking for a Staff Accountant to join the Finance team at FourKites, directly reporting to the Assistant Controller. The Staff Accountant will support general accounting functions including month-end close, preparation of journal entries, and reconciliation of balance sheet accounts.

This new team member will be a self-starter, nimble in an ever-changing environment and able to learn and to perform at a high level in a general accounting role of an entrepreneurial company.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Reconcile balance sheet accounts to ensure accurate financial reporting
• Prepare journal entries and maintain subledgers
• Prepare bi-monthly payroll calculations and ensure timely remittance to employees
• Calculate commission accruals and ensure timely inclusion in payroll
• Calculate subscription and implementation revenue
• Prepare and maintain consolidation of US & India entities
• Prepare audit schedules as requested by our external auditors
• Review, analyze, and correct discrepancies on financial statements and report issues to management
• Recommend process efficiencies and participate in improvements
• Gain familiarity with keeping 2 sets of books – GAAP and Management
• Create and run financials from Intacct for actuals, budget, and forecast
• Support FP&A function in variance analysis and reporting requests
• Collaborate with team members in US & India
• Ad hoc projects

REQUIREMENTS:

• BS in Accounting
• Previous accounting experience
• Attention to detail, ability to learn, and be nimble in a rapidly changing environment
• Proficiency with Excel
• Proficiency with Intacct or similar system (e.g., NetSuite)
• Ability to pivot priorities with minimal notice
• Proven ability to meet deadlines and work well in a fast-paced team environment
• Self-starter attitude with advanced time management skills
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Solid analytical and problem-solving skills
• Self-motivated to work independently with minimal supervision and comfortable within cross-border team environment
