We’re looking for a Taxonomy Manager to join our Marketing and Technology teams. You’ll contribute in a major way to the implementation of a next-generation content management system and support our editorial evolution.
In this role, you’ll work with a cross-disciplinary team of editors, developers, and content strategists to create, maintain, and grow a taxonomy that will be the foundation of our CMS development and publishing process. These teams are building dynamic content experiences that express Morningstar’s investing philosophies at every interaction; you’ll get into the details to understand the language we use to describe our ideas and how they relate to each other today and into the future.
We’re looking for someone who will:
- Conduct a thorough content audit of all channels globally and establish a clear understanding of consistent content themes and how they related to one another.
- Think in systems, always keeping in mind hierarchies and what came before and what comes after an interaction for a reader.
- Plan for reuse and support creating the foundation for adaptive content.
- Develop a standard, shared vocabulary and incorporate in taxonomy management and CMS specifications.
- Understand how to recommend and build taxonomy forms including faceted and ontologies
- Champion a natural language voice.
Experience we’d like to see:
- 5-10 years of experience in content strategy or taxonomy management.
- A degree in library science, or journalism
- Experience building large-scale taxonomies, ontologies or semantic webs
- Hands-on knowledge of semantic graphs and implementation through resource description framework, web ontology language, triplestore, or similar technologies
- Confidence in ability to construct and maintain a taxonomy.
- Familiarity with accessibility requirements and how to implement them
- Confidence in ability to design information hierarchy.
- Superb communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Demonstrated ability to work with content strategists, developers, and subject-matter experts.
- Excellent organization and attention to detail.
- Experience with AP Style is a plus.
