The Position:
The Vice President, Corporate Tax is a key leadership position in the Finance organization. In addition to ensuring compliance with Federal, State, Local and International tax laws, this roles objective is to maximize global profitability and sustainability by minimizing tax liability. This individual will lead a team of tax professionals and look for ways to continuously improve core functions and create efficiencies.
Key Responsibilities:
Research and Planning:
Develop appropriate tax planning initiatives/strategies and recommendations to ensure the most effective tax position for the company
Provide analysis of the tax impact of proposed transactions and develop tax efficient approaches for each transaction
Direct the activities of outside counsel and advisors on tax related issues
Identify and lead the implementation of tax strategies that will help to reduce the company’s overall effective tax rate
Summarize and present tax information to various areas of the company and respond to inquiries from the business areas
Provide guidance on proposed or enacted tax legislation, including staying current on emerging issues
Compliance:
Ensure all required returns, reports and payments are filed correctly, timely and with appropriate documentation to support tax calculations and positions taken.
Determine proper treatment and documentation of transactions in the US (and certain foreign jurisdictions on a limited basis)
Ensure that intercompany transfer pricing are properly documented and supported
Audits and Tax provisions:
Oversee the identification of tax exposures and ensure that appropriate considerations are made in determination of tax provisions communicated to the Board of Directors, CFO and disclosed publicly as appropriate
Managing relationships with taxing authorities, audits, appeals, tax related litigation and approve any settlements
Direct staff that will develop responses to inquiries from tax authorities
Ensuring all tax returns are complete, carefully reviewed and timely filed; and leading a staff of employees
Qualifications:
Bachelors degree in Finance, Accounting or Economics. Masters in Business administration degree highly preferred
10+ years of broad and deep finance and tax experience
Extensive U.S. Federal and State income and transaction tax knowledge
Extensive experience in identifying, analyzing, and communicating complex tax issues and their impact on the company and its operations to key stakeholders, and executive leaders
Strong analytical skills
Has superb written and verbal communication skills
Track record as a trusted advisor and business partner - driving business insights, actions, and accountability, with a customer service-oriented attitude
